Sanchez would have been our franchise QB, if we had a good coordinator to coach him along with some young talented targets.
If Sanchez was actually a good QB like some people on here seem to think, shouldn't Cleveland be very interested? They have nobody to play the position, they can get him at a bargain price, and Pettine had a closeup view of his play for four seasons. Has anything been said about him going to Cleveland? If they won't touch him with a 10' pole, why the hell would WE want him on our team??
Excellent logic. Or not. Sanchez is coming off of major shoulder surgery, the gamble they'd be taking isn't worth it. They are going to draft a QB high and find a suitable stop-gap that can step on the field and play day 1 as they work in the rookie. Because Cleveland isn't looking at him means nothing. Because no one may look at him means nothing. Might I remind you, he just had major surgery- thinking he's going to be a starting QB week 1 in September is silly. Love all these theories revolving around how much folks here thinks sucks. _
So the "major surgery" thing should only be a red flag for everyone else ... but we should ignore it. Makes sense.
He's not being asked to be a starter here, not like he would be in Cleveland. The Browns aren't starting Johnny Football week one, they need a guy that can step on the field immediately. Sanchez is not that guy, therefore that's why they aren't looking at him. _
Exactly. Why look at Sanchez? Better yet, why not look at Sanchez? Because the collective at TGG thinks he sucks. Yeah, that's Cleveland's rationale. Lol. _
I'm not so sure about that. Who was the last QB selected in the top 10 who didn't start from day 1? I can't think of any in recent memory. The philosophy is different these days. Teams want to throw these QB's into the mix immediately and let them learn on the job.
Yeah but there hasn't been such a risky top 10 QB pick in forever. He'll be the exception and not start, not week 1. _
I can't believe his fans are still blaming the OC's for Mark's regression. He's had three of them. How many do want. All 3 of these guys have steadily worked in the NFL. So who do you want then. No matter whom you'll blame them if Mark stinks up the joint. There comes a time when you have to admit it's the player's fault. The sample size was over 60 starts and the results more bad games and seasons than good one. Lowest Qbr for the four seasons he was on the field. Worst numbers in terms of turnovers. You're still saying Mark was ruined. All he got was the best chance of any Qb in recent history. His job was uncontested. And that's the reason for a new mindset with the Jets. No more just giving a guy the job.
seems to me Sanchez is being linked to more teams than Vick...yet Jet fans insist that Sanchez is garbage. A lot of other teams will bring him in nice and fast as a veteran backup option or someone willing to work with a young QB. Jets should fix his deal and get their corner back situation lined up before the draft. If they pick another CB in the 1st round i'll lose it
Yes --- although he did start in his first year. Which just made me think of one -- Phillip Rivers. .
Can also think of plenty of guys that came in day, were rushed, and flamed in in a ball of glory. With the new salary structure you don't need to force a guy onto the field day 1
What are you talking about? He's had 2 offensive coordinators. An awful one and one who never should have been an offensive coordinator in the NFL. Folks here would have liked to have seen him with MM for a full year. Didn't happen so that's the rub for some folks. _
You don't think him being signed to the Jets have anything to do with that? You know tampering rules and all that legal stuff.
I thought the reason he wasn't released by now was because Idzik is still hoping against hope, that some team might be willing to give us something for him. Aren't teams allowed to express interest? That's what just happened with Sproles --- Saints finally got 5th rounder for him.
I think they can privately express interest. They can't go to the media or twatter to announce their interest. _
mark sanchez is FAR from accurate, there is nothing in this world that can back up your statement. however every stat and every game tape on the planet of him can back up the statement that mark sanchez is in fact an inaccurate passer. and thats without me getting into the intricacies of the position and how ball placement on the body is extremely important. mark cant even get into that stuff as he has enough trouble making the ball catchable.
