I'm sure Idzik is talking to guys - and letting the market and expectations come down to where we value guys before pursuing. Don't get me wrong - I see both sides of the argument - we DO still need some help from Free Agency - but building through the draft IS the best way to build - controllable and young players. I think it would go a long way to lock up a Hakeem Nicks type WR - once he comes down to earth from wanting Decker's contract. He's hurt a decent amount - but as many have said - he was a 1,000 yard receiver before Cruz - he's a true #1 - albeit on the lower end of the spectrum - get him, and hope you draft a great one - trust me - Geno knows how to spread the ball around. Additionally - I think we should snap up Captain Munnerlyn if he makes it away from the Vikes - dude can play if you watched the Carolina game.
The Jets are making appropriate free agency moves. So are the Broncos who are on a last-ditch effort to win a Super Bowl before they have to rebuild. The Browns? Well, that's your call. If you choose to see them as making appropriate moves just remember, they're the Browns and they're doing things that haven't helped anybody improve much recently.
Now that I think about it the more I like Idzik's approach...for now. We are so used to having to be on the front page that a quiet FA is foreign. I also agree with the sentiment that a good number of FA that sign for bloated dollars NEVER pan out as great as the teams expect them to be. I am more than willing to continue to support the understated approach.
Lol, uneducated Jets fans like this guy are the absolute worst. Do you want to spend like teenage girl at a mall who just got her first paycheck (the Browns), or a calm, collected and analytical approach like Idzik?
And Browner looks like he will go to NE which pretty much leaves nobody left other than the Cromarties and nobody knows if DRC really wants to play anymore.
Here's a name I haven't seen much of yet: Tarrell Brown. He's been the starting CB for the 49ers for the past several seasons. He's missed some time due to injury, but has been an effective player. At age 29, he's not a 5year, big money player, but he's someone to consider.
DRC's comments about retirement are taken out of context. He did not say he wanted to retire, he said he was worried bout being forced to retire after only getting a 1 year deal. Meaning, he was thinking there was no market for him anymore. Now, leave it to narrow minded football people to disregard him simply because he mentioned "retiring." If you give the guy a contract and he retires isn't the cap hit and salary forgiven?
Except for the Fact that Giacomini is at worst the same... At best he is better than Howard... Wash at WR... Younger more productive better attitude... Less money than Holmes... Other than that seems like you know your stuff /rolls eyes Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk
How Where has he visited and didn't he turn down the Talib deal as was reported? http://nfl.si.com/2014/03/13/domini...ly-turned-down-54-million-offer-from-broncos/
Manish Mehta @MMehtaNYDN 1m Darrelle Revis' 1st choice: Return to Jets. Rex wanted him badly. When it became clear it wasn't going to happen, he targeted Patriots #nyj
You visit teams that are interested. He didn't need to visit Denver he was already there. Turning down the contract is an enigma to me. I don't know what that means; does he want more? idk But I think above is what is sending mixed signals to teams with potential interest.
Unfortunately it sounds like Revis burned that bridge with Woody and there was no going back. Going to the Pats that just hurts and says a lot about the resentment between the two parties involved.
Balls.....to Munnerlyn And DRC is a decent option - if he signs, he signs and plays - if he retires after next year - oh well, we find a replacement then. I don't ACTUALLY think he will retire - he had mentioned it IF he won the Super Bowl.
Manish Mehta @MMehtaNYDN 1m Sources close to the Jets say they are close to signing Bobby Boucher to a multiyear deal. #nyj
in the best interests of the team you have to put personal stuff aside. Woody/Idzik dropped the ball on this one
