http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/players/1737136/lamarcus-joyner If he is around with our second round pick should we draft him?
Depends who else is available on the offensive side of the ball. Also depends on the status of Cro. I think we resign Cro to a smaller deal and if he gets to 100% again, we could be OK with Milliner having a year of experience under his belt.
Probably not. Unless they're planning on cutting Cro and not bringing him back, there isn't a glaring need at CB. If the Jets take Ebron in the 1st round, they need to take a WR in the 2nd or vice versa. The only other logical positions for the first two rounds are OLB and FS. If they don't bring Cro back, then the Jets could take Gilbert or Dennard in the first, but if not, then taking Joyner might make sense, but the Jets might like someone taller like Jean-Baptiste, McGill or Desir.
I like him, seems like a good #2 CB as well as explosive playmaker on ST. I think what we learned about Idzik last year is they are going to draft who they feel is BPA as opposed to drafting for need. Maybe that changes this year but we saw it with Dee, Sheldon and Smith.
I agree. With all the holes they have, imo it should be fairly easy for the BPA to also be a player at a position of need. After all, as you know, they need WR, TE, FS, OLB, OG, RB, DE, P, and maybe CB, QB, and OT.
Don't see this happening. No way. Especially the fact that we just cut Cro and will probably be signing a guy like Verner.
Here is the deal according to Jets Karma which is a proven theorem over the team's ignominious past. IF we draft Joyner, he is a guaranteed bust. IF we do not draft Joyner, he is a guaranteed HoFer. So it is written, so shall it be
Wanna rethink that? lol With Verner, Talib, and Davis having signed elsewhere, and Revis never even a consideration (imo), the Jets still have a need at CB. It will definitely be interesting to see if they bring back Cro, sign a different FA, or just wait for the draft. I would think that at a minimum, Idzik will sign a 2nd or 3rd tier FA CB so he isn't "forced" to draft a CB high. He didn't re-sign Trufant or Berry and Trufant has signed elsewhere (Titans, I think). That said, with Gilbert and Dennard being such great prospects, and with the woody (pun intended) Rex has for CBs, I wouldn't be surprised to either see the Jets take Gilbert or Dennard at #18 or trade down about 5 spots and take one of them.
You're probably right, and unless they fail to re-sign Cro, or sign Munnerlyn or another FA CB, I hope you are. Still, if Idzik thinks he's the bpa at #49, he could wind up being a Jet.
