hopefully it's front loaded with the cap hit in the first 2 years otherwise this deal fucking blows.

, then we can cut his ass when we're screaming for his head when our retarded qb can't seem to find him

I would have preferred paying him 6M instead of 7 but with the monopoly money cap that is coming in a couple of years 7M now will be nothing then.

you are right we should have signed Megatron or one of those other elite WRs that weere available in free agency - oh wait there werent any and we took probably the best that was available - what a disaster

I like Decker, but I do not view him as a number 1 receiver. I hope that we will continue to upgrade before the draft. We will need to surround Decker with other weapons which will allow him to see more 1 on 1 coverage.

Be careful what you wish for. They are talking about James Jones and if they sign him I can't see the Jets drafting any receiver until later in the draft. They aren't signing these guys to sit on the bench and unless they plan on cutting Kerley there won't be much of a need.

I don't think they view the draft as a means to fill holes. I think they are serious about drafting the top guy on their board. With that being said, even if they sign Jones I can't see the passing up a Mike Evans or Kelvin Benjamin if they are available.

Very good signing. And I would love to see either of Jones, Sanders or Edelman added as well.

Hard to say a guy who catches 90+ balls can't be a No. 1. My only issue with Deck is his drops. If he gets over that, good to go.

Idzik claims his philosophy is exactly that, build a team through the draft and so far in his one year that's what he has done. We needed to try and get a receiver in FA but I don't see why we need to get two especially with a presumed 12 picks and the deepest WR draft maybe ever.

Did those 'wise' teams have Stephen Hill, Greg Salas and David Nelson as their receiving corps?

Decker isn't a #1 receiver but i am for the most part happy with the deal because of all the shit I'm been hearing about how this is mediocre signing.I hope Decker hears this and inspires him to work even harder this offseason to make himself into a #1. Point is we needed a receiver #1, #2, whatever it doesn't matter, we needed an improvement at the WR position.

I know what you are saying, but I think the absolute dog shit we've had at receiver the last two years may force our hand in bringing in 2 legitimate FA receivers.

Great addition to the team. These are the kinds of moves every GM should make on any team and these are the kinds of players the Jets need on the roster; Hardnose, tough, non-complaining prima donnas. You fill this Jets roster with these types of players, the culture will change for the better. I'm hoping we still sign Emmanuel Sanders too! I'm somewhat disappointed not getting some of the other prized FA's but we didn't suffer this long to free up cap space to throw it all away again. We are on the right track, continue to draft well this and coming years and we will challenge N.E. for AFC East year in year out.

Trade Down , acquire more picks in this deep draft and get Cooks PLEEEEAAAASEEEE!

36M/5 yrs? That's about 7M/yr or so - Well done. I approve this signing.

    And:

Welcome to NY, Eric. I hope your stay here is much more fruitful than that of Tone.

Great pickup as a #2 WR. Now all we need is a #1, and a RB that can catch. Hopefully we can replace Howard too.

I know he's not a #1 guy but I like this signing a lot. Picked up arguably the best WR available in free agency for reasonable money.

After a lot of thought, I like the deal. Peyton Manning aside, I've watched a lot of Decker since he was a Golden Gopher in college. Physically he's got plenty of tools. I just hope he can handle the spotlight. That's my only concern. Otherwise, I think he's an instant upgrade to our WR corps at a slightly high price, but not obnoxiously overpaid. All in all, seems like a good signing. If we get James Jones or Emanuel Sanders, then we can target one more WR in the draft and we'll be in good shape at that position. We really need to address the secondary and OL next.

    Spotlight?

He has a reality show with his semi-superstar singer model wife.

Think he's more equipped than Sanchez.
