Rotoworld disagrees. So do I. He could be a liability in pass protection. "Jets signed RT Breno Giacomini, formerly of the Seahawks. A very limited talent, 28-year-old Giacomini has forged a career as a starter with sheer determination and physicality. He's a brawling blocker, and will take the place of Austin Howard in New York. We wouldn't call it a big downgrade, but it's certainly not an upgrade, either. The Seahawks essentially made no attempt to retain Giacomini. He's a rather uninspiring addition for Gang Green.Mar 12 - 8:53 PM"
Ok, if that's the case then we should look to move on from Colon. We can't have two hot heads back there getting PF penalties. Especially with them playing right next to each other, I could see one finishing what the other started.
If during a game two hot heads play next to each other and the first hot head punches the 2nd hot head in the mouth so then the 2nd hot head kicks the first hot head in the balls, rips off his helmet, and beats him with it would this count as a penalty even if it happens between teammates who are actually best friends who were just teasing each other?
and lots of Brazilians are of Italian descent.... what you said is like saying he's American descent not Italian. Unless your from a jungle or woodland tribe there's no such thing as Brazilian or American descent.
He's also undisciplined, among the most penalized linemen in the league. After watching Brian Winters kill so many drives last year with holding penalties and missed blocks in pass protection (not to mention the Wayne Hunter saga) I just can't feel good about this move. Russell Wilson spent much of his time last year running for his life on passing plays. It's much more a a testament to him -- his elusiveness, pocket awareness, athleticism, etc. -- than to the O-Line that his sacked total wasn't higher.
I don't have PFF advanced stats up in front of me, but from what I read earlier he is a marginal upgrade in run blocking (but not quite adequate), but much better in pass protection, and overall a slight upgrade to Howard. Keep in mind, I'm sure he'll come at a fraction of the cost too.
In 2011 and 2012, you are absolutely correct. Last year he completely cut down on his penalties, though. He also started for the Super Bowl-winning Seahawks despite being injured earlier in the season.
we'll see. this last part is true though. RW was running for his fucking life so much of last season. big reason why hawks weren't just blowing people out all year long. not a hawks fan so don't know how much that was due to Giaco or if his return made it better (he missed first seven games).
2013: Buffalo Bills - last place 2012: Buffalo Bills - last place 2011: Buffalo Bills - last place 2010: Buffalo Bills - last place 2009: Buffalo Bills - last place 2008: Buffalo Bills - last place "Bills over Jets" ......
More of a stopgap I guess. But a stopgap for what ? We are still razor thin at tackle and if the injury bug bites forget it. It's imperative we take a tackle and guard in May, IMO. Even after taking 3 guards last year. The projects (ducasse) and average (slausen/Howard) to subpar play (hunter/winters) at LG and RT over the years has to change. .... If there is 1 area that I can endorse spending almost like a drunken sailor would be OL. Oh well.
I'm sure Breno will be competing with Oday for the start, either way solid signing and we didn't have to give up 6m per.
