They thought they could get Davis or Verner.

All the reports I saw explicitly said that the Revis camp reached out to the Jets (likely in order to get the Pats to pay more money due to a fabricated competition for who would get Revis). Either way, though, the past is the past. This drama will re-ignite a year from now when Revis wants to be paid $17 million after a good season as a Pat.

Let's just say it's not a problem Kerley comes off the bench. And while Nelson is great depth, you don't really want him starting.

Yep, that confirms it: Jets never reached to Revis.

ODB and Cooks are faster and don't have as many drops.

Time to re-sign Cro on a lowball offer.

The alternative is to try to find a starting CB in the draft for the 2nd straight year.

I love Justin Gilbert, but would probably prefer a WR @18, depending on who's still on the board.

Oh you mean the super bowl winning QB who is also very elusive with great pocket presence? I don't think you compare RW to Geno in ANY way.

I cannot disagree with your points, except the Howard point. But I very much agree with you about rookie WRs taking 2-3 years to develop. My problem is spending money on FA WRs. IMO FA WRs have the biggest bust potential of any potential FA signing, they are so expensive and normally at best you get a #2 or #3 WR as teams will almost never let a potential #1 go unless there are serious character concerns. Such a poor return for the dollar spent.

The only point I would disagree with you is on the point that we have plenty of money. Yes we have money to sign more players. But I believe its much better to keep that money and carry it over to the next years cap and use it to resign our own then to throw it away on mediocre players. I also think Howard is a much better player and an ascending younger player than Giacomini. Howard is the type of player you can build around.

But you do not make good points about Decker's production and the need to surround Geno with some semblance of NFL talent. Ultimately it will be the QB who will make the WRs better but it will certainly help Geno's development to have some reliable targets. Even more so it will help him to have a a better OL. Last year we had one of the worst OLs in the league. Losing Howard will not help. Hopefully we can upgrade at RG and see some improvement from Winters. Seattle's philosophy was building the OL and DL 1st before spending resources on skill players. Hopefully we will see Idzik address the OL again this off-season.

If the contracts are structured correctly then they can sign a guard receiver rb and tight end and then draft young players to replace them.

Then next year draft players to replace Mangold and Ferguson and Harris.

I'm hoping they end up with a guard, James Jones, Maurice Jones drew, Captain Munnerlyn and Chris Clemons.

This is 2014...you are capable of multitasking. Plus Revis was practically signed before the appetizers anyway.

What does that mean? He's still a young QB like Geno. Obviously he's a lot more advanced and better then Geno but your going to give Wilson the credit for Breno's play? For the recrod Wilson was sacked 44 times last year and Geno 43. Just sayin.

Young in age only. I would attribute Wilson's pocket presence being more of a reason he did not take 50+ sacks last year. Point being I think Geno benefits from a guy who is savvy back there. Howard did not have that luxury.

Considering the Jets offered the same money but wanted more incentive based with Howard - I think the Jets lose on this deal. If FO guaranteed a few bucks more Howard he would have stayed.

Great signing with Decker. Anyone who doesn't see that is blind. Still plenty of money to fill the roster out as well.

He probably does benefit from blocking for a better QB. No argument there from me. We'll see how it plays out. Breno played well last year for the Seahawks, not great, but neither did Howard. Will be interesting to see how Howard plays in Oakland, he had his best year so far as a pro with Sparano as his OC who is now the OL coach there.

As a Pats fan, Browner has been on my wishlist since I heard he got reinstated. At 6'4 221, if he has the ability to play with the field infront of him, he could be a great SS, or an upgrade at the CB2 spot. I like Dennard as one of the best CB2's in the league, but I see Browner as the best, potentially a #1 on a few teams.

Your right it will be interesting to see how this plays out. I thought Howard was solid last year. 2 sacks and 2 penalties is nothing to sneeze at.

I feel if you have the chance to lock him down with a little more guaranteed money you do it. Why mess with an unknown? You have a tackle that is young, started 32 straight games, no injuries, great size, mentally solid, and only getting better.

We're (hopefully) not taking Jace Amaro in any round. ASJ is better and Niklas and Fiedorowicz could be better too.
