What I meant was not to pull the trigger just for the sake of pulling the trigger and instead focus on selecting: a. talent from the draft and then b. if going the FA route, that the FA not end up costing Idzik $1.25 on the dollar. FA for a team like the Jets that have many roster holes to fill, while tempting can be very risky when you consider the salary imbalance it can produce across the border. Pay the stars, don't "settle" for overpaying a FA. I'm more concerned with getting Mo Wilk for example extended at a figure that's not going to be blown up because of an inflated FA contract that his agent uses as leverage and the ripple effect that might have with other contracts needing to be addressed as well. Beyond all that though, I'm more concerned not having that extra 3rd round pick -- that makes me scratch my head thinking about how Idzik should go about the draft. If he gets Decker at a very reasonable rate by being patient, so be it, I just don't want a 'B+' talent getting 'A-' money.
Well free agency has shown us one thing for sure as Jet fans. Idzik is truly in charge and running the show. Very glad to see this and as long as we lock Decker up i think we made all the moves we needed to in the first two days.
BINGO. we got the best guy for the job of either being a distraction or taking advantage of one. this is the perp of having more than one above average target, draft Lee/Cooks/OBJ, whoever and this corp goes from crap to versatile.
