all I'm saying is Decker will be in for a rough night when he's matched up with Revis. I didn't say anything about the rest of the team, Revis can't cover everybody.
This is ok, because we should have more than 1 reliable receiver out there. Isolate Revis and attack the other parts of the defense.
Bob needs this deal to happen tonight to win back people and to look good. Not really going out on a limb by saying a deal is in place by Decker and the Jets but its not any different then what our beat writers do. Its fair play.
Finally. Hopefully we didn't over pay. I'm cool with $8 million. But hey at least we have some talent at receiver and some one with production. We need another solid receiver across from him. The kerley factor- two solid receivers outside will free him up with the addition of a tight end. Overhaul the offense so we can score some points. Again Rex will always field a solid defense he just needs an offense that will put up points and sustain drives so his d isn't on the field for 2/3 of the game
Each day I get frustrated with the Jets organization. $40M under the cap and yet...they sit on their hands. Grrrr...
I really hope we draft a receiver to go with Decker (if he signs). Odell Beckham or Brandin Cooks would be ideal.
Munnerlyn = Cromartie (twice the tackles, three times the sacks, same forced fumbles, one less pick) Decker = Holmes (better attitude, equal difference maker) Lateral RT move Exactly what I would expect from a team with no cap space.
I'm not worried about Revis. If we sign Decker and another free agent and then draft a guy like Odell Beckham, suddenly Revis isn't as bad
If Carolina can trade him they save $4mm (no offset language). Why not offer a 5 th round pick for Smith and a 3rd rounder? Carolina pays up a bit to save some $ and the jets get Smith on a 1 year $7 mm deal when we have the cap space.
Decker is an equal difference maker than the 2010 Holmes but we didn't get that Holmes from 2011-2013, thus Decker's a big improvement over Holmes....healthier too.
The Jets plan is Eric Decker and James Jones, it sounds like we finally got Decker, expect Jones to follow up.
Wow you guy are so relieved and happy that you managed to sign peyton's #3 wr...If he was that good he wouldn't be a free agent and I bet Idzik overpayed just to save face...LoL..let hope I'm wrong but I don't think so. Decker is better than any receiver on our roster now but if we grab a recieve in the 1st and 2nd round that will make decker #3 in our system but he will begetting paid like a #1.
this is why we need to acquire WEAPONS not a weapon. We spread the ball out 4 receivers. We can run the football, the Pats haven't upgraded their defensive line or linebacking corps. There is still weaknesses on this Pats team. With Revis, they are still vulnerable. Maybe more-so then ever before. 1 CB ain't stopping the Broncos passing attack, and 1 CB won't stop the Jets from running the football.
I'm not happy about Revis to the Pats but it's not fair to blame Idzik for what a free agent does, especially one that burned a lot of bridges here (or we burned a lot of bridges with, hard to know for sure). It still sucks but you can't blame him. Not signing guys to bloated insane contracts is also a good thing. The problem with Idzik is he's done virtually nothing. He re-signed a kicker we had already franchised and signed a RT hardly anyone has ever heard of to replace the one that he let walk. So, at best, we're slightly worse. Yes, I know there is lots of time and yes I know the draft is important but like I've said before: not every guy we draft is going to be a legitimate starter, it just doesn't happen. So far we have holes at RG, arguably RB (albeit only for Goodson's spot), backup QB, WR x2, TE, CB, FS, OLB and improvements on depth everywhere. At some point we need to dip into free agency and not on just a bunch of retreads and guys from the bottom of the garbage pile. By some posts on here you'd think teams get bonus points for how far below the cap they spend. You gotta spend money to put guys on the field, they win you games not a pile of money sitting in Woody's pocket.
