Considering he plays for the Phillies, I'd have to agree with you..

    Too soon to tell.

Honestly what he does in the draft matters more anyway. Year 1 seems to be a good sign that things are moving in the right direction.

If you said yes or no to this question at this point in time with almost no FA activity for the Jets then you'rer either a Hater or a Homer.

It's impossible to judge what Idzik has done in the FA period at this point as the Jets have almost done nothing besides sign or release some of their own players.

The answer to this is TBD once FA runs its course. Then you can give Idzik a true grade.

I'm happy so far but its hard to say until we've see the results...

I will say that im THRILLED that he didnt give money to austin howard, that he cut cromartie and holmes, and that we didnt give verner big money. I thought cumberland was an important guy to have back.

If he can land a Gaurd in FA i'll be happy. if he can add a gaurd and Revis/Munnerlyn/Cromartie id be thrilled.

id hate to see us pay decker #1 WR money or give edelman what amendola got

Uhmm, Idzk didn't "keep" Rex, Woody Johnson, the Team Owner, "kept" Rex.

Uh, the Jets have championship hopes also. I like his approach in all situations. If you overpay even just one player, you upset the balance in the locker room. Also, Idzik has served notice that he wants players that have a team first mentality and not a me first (Mevis) attitude.

I agree, and judging by the results of this poll we have many more homers around here lately than haters.

It'll be more frustrating when the Pats get Revis and we have Milliner and Wilson as our top two CB's.

I sure do wish Idzik came from Redskins, not the Super Bowl building Seahawks. Those Redskins sure made free agency exciting back in the day. because, you know, that's why we are all fans, to be excited by free agency, not the actual games.

I'm referring to his approach. It is obvious that he did not go out in the first wave and overpay the shit out of some of these guys. He is taking a relaxed approach looking for more economical talent. Obviously we have to wait to see how everything transpires, but it is clear the approach he is taking.

Sure, for his approach I agree that he's been consistent in that respect and done a nice job managing the cap so far. I'm interested, as we all are, in seeing what the results of FA yield in terms of improving this roster. That's what I ultimately judge him on.

This approach is the one that works. These big splashes never seem to work out. The key is drafting and finding role players in free agency.

That's great, but "building through the draft" assumes that you re-sign your own players. Idzik lost 2 key players, Cromartie and Howard, so they must be replaced now in free agency.

no, it means they need to be replaced, not replaced "now" in this immediate free agency period. the season doesn't start for 6 months. there will be plenty of opportunity to add players before then, and it is better to avoid long term deals with decent player if you can get a better, older player after cuts for less years, and then seek to draft an eventual replacement who you can groom for a few years behind them and are cheap.

Yes our end goal is to win a championship. But realistically we're not there yet, so the goal is to build a team that can compete for a championship.

what's worse, not spending available money or spending it poorly and adversely affecting the team for years to come?

Why does it have to be one or the other? You can spend money without it messing up the team for years to come. Sitting on your hands on a pile of cash doesn't get you more wins, having capable players on the field does.

I don't think if they underspend on the cap and put an inferior product on the field that ticket prices will be any lower. Improve the team, spend close to the cap, try to win as many games as possible.

Looks like another 8-8 season coming up...but we didn't overspend for anyone smh.
Those fools, the Pats and Broncos, throwing all that "crazy" money around will be playing the AFC championship game while the Jets sit at home, ......, but Idzik can pat himself on the back, he was "smart" with his money and didn't overspend!!!!!!!!!

Honesty,I detest the free agency period, because the Jets are very passive.
They spend on marginal free agents, hoping to get plots of bang for their buck.
I think that's fine, but it just seems to move the team slowly.
I'm not sure if any of the Broncos moves are going to work, but I believe it gives the players confidence that
management everything it can to produce a winner.

Finally, I would have a rather proven talent than hope one of my seven draft choices work out.

I've been in full support until now, but Idzik is looking like a cheap fool.

You should be willing to overpay a little to sign your own guys, since you know they know and fit your system.

Losing Austin Howard was bad; and now this Revis to NE dagger.

Woody couldn't swallow his pride and fork over $12.5 M for one year?
