So we want to pay the premium for Decker but for other positions of need it would be Fiscally irresponsible? I'm just checking.
I wasn't too high on paying Decker, but I think he will be a HUGE help for us. He's the first piece to a complete overhaul of the receiving Corp. He would be a nice foundation
Do we know contract details? Has any other "blue chip" WR been signed to compare contacts with? How can we assess overpaying if we are setting the market?
Decker would be a massive upgrade to anything we have... Who cares about the #1 #2 labels, if the guy can play the guy can play. Decker can play, it just depends on the price.
Why can't anybody understand it's about the money with Decker? Nobody hates him, they hate the fact he thinks he should be paid #1 receiver money. If he accept low #2 or #3 then everybody is fine with him.
What has eric decker ever done without peyton manning throwing him the ball? he is average for a #2 WR, let alone a guy who is going to turn around a passing offense. there is no need to pay big for a WR when there are tons to be had in the draft who will be younger and cheaper
I would be totally shocked if Idzik overpays Decker so I'm guessing we will get a good deal and there must not be any other interest in him.
According to Schefter, he thinks Decker will get somewhere around $6 or $7 million, which is not #1 receiver money. It's slot receiver type of money
The big late night/early morning news the below? a) Eric Decker is visiting the Jets b) Demarcus Ware is visiting the Broncos?
1. go back to 2011 when he was catching passes from tim freakin tebow and kyle orton 2. you have no idea how much money..for all we now hes signing a deal for 6 mill a year or around that..witch would be good
as i mentioned yestarday, glad we didnt sign verner... especially after seeing he got 9+ million. he isnt an elite corner and has really had just 1 very good season. i'm sad to see talib go, he was my top choice non-revis but seeing him not go back to the pats is good also. this opens the door for revis. hope ti gets done. revis at 12M is a better value then verner at 9M especially when you consider verner is an unknown. hope we take a look at CJ2K. MJD would help us but CJ2K is a homerun hitter of which we currently have none. im pleased we have been patient so far. it will pay off. just hope Revis doesnt end up on the pats. that would be devestating
I will admit I did not want Decker ONLY because I didn't want to pay top dollar for him. Fact is, if we can get him for at around $7 million a year, he would be a MASSIVE upgrade for Geno. MASSIVE. Draft a couple guys and maybe target a guy like Miles Austin and we could be in business.
Decker at #2 money is worth it. Let's just hope that's what it is. Sure, Manning "made" him. But I guess people forget he put up, if I remember correctly, 9 TDs the year Tebow was their savior.
It's a one year contract, that's all..a series of 1 year contracts so the most you are out is 16 M and with that other idiot getting 10M yesterday it isn't so far out of line. How do you think they are in a position to cut him now?
