THe CB situation isnt as bad as we all think. Cromartie is on speed dial and Revis might be a possibility as he says he would love to return. Verner doesnt fit our scheme (who reported we have high interest in him i have no idea) And Davis was overpaid. So we technically didnt lose out too bad yet. At that posisition.
We have basicaly lost Cro and Howard. We definitely got a little worse. I would have liked to see at least 1 or 2 depth signings but the lack of jumping today to me shows there is a plan in place. Here's looking forward to tomorrow
Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter 47s Filed to ESPN: Denver has reached agreement on a 6-year, $57M deal that includes $26M gtd with former Patriots CB Aqib Talib, per sources.
Ah fuck!! We gotta sign Revis ASAP. Give him what he wants. We need him back and the last thing we need is him in New England
I get where you're coming from, but I'm going to judge this off season by its final result, not who gets signed on day 1. If we sign Revis & Sanders tomorrow I'll be happier than a pig in shit.
Ward is a strong safety and Byrd signed for $9M a year including $28M guaranteed. I don't think either of those guys was ever on the Jets radar. The guy Idzik might be ruing is Mike Mitchell, but Mitchell is also a SS who played FS for the Panthers last year and he only had the one year to go on after the Raiders gave up on him. I really think there wasn't a safety on the market who fit what the Jets needed exactly and they were all pricey for what they were.
You listen to washed up outdated GMs on sports center to much,Bill Polian said if free agents were great players then they wouldn't be free agents, possibly the dumbest thing ever said on live television
Im really surprised the jets didnt make a play for him. He is a perfect fit for what Rex likes. Idzik must be trying to stay away form the problem guys. Him and Champ would have been a very nice pair.
Or no plan at all,but hey atleast we locked up Folk, you know the old saying,"Kickers Win Championships"
Which means the Patriots apparently will make a huge push for Revis, another incentive for the Jets to resign him.
I respect Idzik's approach and I understand why some fans are upset as well. Idzik is not gonna spend crazy in free agency, he uses this period to find cheap talent to supplement the roster. Cheap vets (Barnes, Colon) and young low risk high reward guys (Goodson, Walls). The draft is where we pick up talent. Maybe if we were a contender and was a piece or 2 away I'd understand going after these guys and spending. This money we have should go to our own guys. Btw I'm disappointed that we're about to lose Howard. Hopefully William Campbell steps up.
Talib's deal basically sets Revis' open market value at around $12 million, since he's not that much better. It would be rough to see him end up in NE. Hopefully Idzik can figure something out.
