Miles Austin is now one of the better FAs out there. On the same level as Nicks, Sanders... Just injury prone.

I'm still hoping we get Wilkerson tied up long term at some point before week 1.

I like the thought of Revis in Cleveland. I like the thought of anybody I do not like in Cleveland

The man pulled the trigger on a trade that sent away the best player our franchise had seen in decades. He drafted a QB and wanted him thrust into the starting role. He cut our best CB. You think he's indecisive?

Not saying we should over pay anybody. Maybe im too ready to have a team with some actual threats to opposing teams and not just a roster full of OK players and players that may "one day" be something to cheer about. But thats just me. IM tired of watching a team that could be really good if we had a stud at this position or that position then when the time comes we make more holes and add more OK talent.. thats why were always just an OK team. but last time we made moves to get better and brung in real talent what do ya know.. Super Bowl is in arms reach

This is probably the smart thing to do, .....but right now, I'm craving the big FA splash, FEED ME! You know, the Tim Tebow, Brett Favre, splashy kind of tabloid grabbing move....oh wait, nevermind.

We have a minimum balance to spend, what i dont want to happen is have all of the big money guys be gone and overpay for a shittier player, its one thing to outbid and overpay for a player that people are competing for, its another thing to HAVE to spend money, therefore throwing money at players that dont deserve it... Im not sure what the minimum to spend and max that can be carried over is, but its not gonna be reached if we do not sign some key guys soon.

Indeed. That is the gospel of free agency. Teams like Cleveland, Miami and the Raiders as others are the ones setting the stage for a block buster free agency spending spree, continue their tradition of mortgaging the future, and creating a short term hype to fill holes and a long term personnel erososion. Winners instead protect and spend on their key young talent first, invest heavy on the draft, and do not get too involved in the hype of day one and overpay for questionable talent but rather do due digilence for those few great value diamonds that do not upset the financial a lance of the team.

He had a gun pointed at him pretty much (in regards to Revis). He cut Cro because he made too much money. You cannot work in a snail's pace in FA, I understand not overspending and such. The Market is just fine, go out and get the players you were investigating all last week.

The longer you wait, the more money it will cost, and more teams will look to jump in.

There aren't any studs in FA. That's why they're free agents. The elite players don't hit FA because their team either resigns them or franchises them. And the Super bowl is not within arms reach. Not with Geno and the offense the way it is now. No single offensive skill player worth looking at has even been signed yet. It's hard to take your argument seriously unless you provide actual names as to who the Jets should have signed by now. All you're doing is spouting hyperbole.

There are lots of options to increase the cash spend this year and free up space down the road. The Jets could reverse engineer either D'Brick or Mangold by giving them more salary this year in return for lowering salaries in future seasons. They could sign Mo Wilk to his extension and frontload some of the money into this year to bring down his cap number in future years. They could give Jeremy Kerley an extension that gave him a cash infusion this year in return for lower salaries in the outer years of his deal.

In some ways the Jets are in a perfect position to finally unwind the splurge from 2007 to 2012 and fix the cap moving forward.

Actually the longer you wait the less cap space is out there to bid against you and you can win the bargain wars easily.

Because that's why Jairus Byrd and Eric Decker are signed right? If teams thought they were remotely worth what they're asking for they'd be signed by now. And Idzik did not have a gun pointed to his head. He could've easily signed Revis. The Jets are 30M+ under the cap. They could've afforded him at 16M but didn't think it was worth it. Similar to a certain team that jettisoned a first round pick not one year ago.

Revis is 30, right? It will take Cleveland probably 2 years at a minimum to build a solid offense. By the time that happens Revis will be getting very long in the tooth. All he will do is hurt their rebuilding in this draft, and in the next two year's drafts because he'll give them a little worse draft position. If he stays, he'll want a new contract and more money in a year or two, guaranteed. As good as he still is, he just isn't worth that imo.

This would be a brilliant move by Idzik. This is a weak year for FA considering the players out there, the strength of the draft and the influx of cap space causing teams to throw money out like it's nothing. Last year was a buyer's market. This year players are fleecing teams.
