We fleeced the Buc's on this one. Revis will most likely be cut, no team want's that contract. He is the highest paid player on the Buc's right now, if they cut him they have $40 million under the cap. http://overthecap.com/teamcap.php?Team=Buccaneers&Year=2014 He will be cut, and Revis will go to the highest bidder and hold them hostage. I'd like to see him come back, but it is unlikely that the Jet's owner wants to go there.
We should offer them a 3rd and get him to take a 10 mil deal..then the fleecing would be complete. That might be the only offer they can get with 8 1/2 hours to go.
I'm sure there is interest but nobody will give much at all without a new deal in place..come to think of it maybe we should just offer them the 4th they owe us and take a chance we can sign him to a new deal. He will never again be as good as he was in Rex's defense.
This isn't looking good for us getting that early 3rd rounder. They expect to cut him by 4 if no trade interest is found. Maybe this is the REAL reason they let Cromartie go and didn't attempt to restructure. They already know that Revis is coming back, which was the master plan all along. He'd sign for cheaper, and we would have gotten a free 1st rounder out of the whole thing. Idzik just sent Revis on an away mission.
I doubt they are trolling. It makes sense that people would be interested in trading for him IF he restructures his contract to a more team-friendly version.
Adam Schefter just screamed on Mike and Mike that "they are NOT trading Revis and that he will be cut!!" his number is way too high
Schefter also saying not to rule out the Jets with Revis, although his main two landing spots he mentioned were New England and Philly
I can't see the most frugal team in the NFL coming to terms with the most money-centric player in the league.
That doesn't mean he won't be traded. He can still get traded and then cut, nothing in his contract is guaranteed other than the 1.5mil roster bonus if he is on some team tomorrow morning. Somebody who thinks they might be able to work a deal may thrown an extra 4th or 3rd to TB to take that chance. We will probably have 5 extra picks so it could be us.
no one is trading for him and hoping to redo his contract prior to the season. You don't trade for someone and then cut them before the season. That's just not happening unless they are comfortable with the current contract or already have a new one worked out.
Lmao are they serious? Mike Freeman GM tells me Bucs' initial asking price was two No. 1s for Revis. Around the league, they were laughed at.
A big part of being a leader is recognizing that it's not all about you. That's the part Revis doesn't get and is unlikely to get. I'd pass.
