i think its funny that 2 days ago we weren't even talking corner and just wr.… now everyone on the forum is going nuts and excited for one cb haha… i really havent been this excited in the off season since 2010...
i think this is getting a little overblown by idzik being so conservative in free agency. Last year we had to be conservative we were in cap hell now that we have money i dont think we should just sit on it, we should give young FA good contracts and older ones 1 or 2 year deals
They have until March 13th when they owe him a 1.5 mil roster bonus. So it's definitely in play...they could avoid losing a 3rd round pick in a stacked draft while saving 16 mil in salary and use it toward other needs
League year opens tomorrow. If Revis is still on the Bucs roster on Thursday, the third day of the year, then the pick stays the 69, otherwise it reverts to the Bucs 4th round pick which is still undetermined due to comp picks.
This is interesting: "And here’s an intriguing angle. While it’s believed that the fourth-round pick that the Buccaneers owe the Jets to complete the trade becomes a third-round pick on the third day of the league year, it’s possible that the draft pick accelerates at 4:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday. (We’re currently trying to nail that down.)"
I just got an alert. bucs are trying to trade him And will release if they can't. dunno why anyone would trade for him now. they know they just have to be highest bidder and he will sign.
Aaand it's officially a 4th rounder. Schefter reports Bucs will release Revis on Wednesday if they can't trade him. We are suckers
Except we got the defensive Rookie of the Year + a 4th round pick for him, so I wouldn't call us suckers. The Bucs lose a lot by releasing Revis.
Yeah but that 3rd in such a stacked draft could be a huge difference. I wouldn't say they lose a lot...they release Revis before Verner or Davis sign and they can scoop one of them up while another team is drooling over the possibility of signing Revis. Stakes getting higher
I just meant they lost a 1st and a 4th for the privilege of having Revis for 1 year for 16 million. I'm sure, in hindsight, their fans are not happy about that trade.
