I don't think so. I think the Rangers are better in net, have more defensive depth and have a more balanced offensive group. Chicago's forward group is Toews, Kane, Hossa, Sharp and a bunch of mediocre players. They aren't as deep as the Rangers. Kane, Toews and Keith are better than anyone the Rangers have, but the Rangers have a lot better depth.
are you guys really of the mindset that the rangers are in the same league as the hawks? how I wish they were, but I must disagree no matter that the rangers beat them twice this year.
as far as playoff longevity goes, the rangers at this time from what I have seen so far this year are an early exit. I hope they stuff it right back in my face and prove me wrong.
It's not even close, just look at the Hawks record, and they play in the tuffiest division in hockey.
"Defensive depth" and "balanced offense" are just nice ways of saying the Rangers mediocre players might be a little more talented than Chicago's mediocre players, and even that I don't really agree with. Chicago's top end talent dwarfs the Rangers in a major, major way. And of course, all of this is based on "talent", not on actual team building where Chicago kills the Rangers from top to bottom.
what bothers me the most, is all the regulation losses, there's a lot of them guys. that and not scoring followed by henrik still seeming to be a little off to my eyes.
Welcome to the dark side my friend. Hags is atrocious. He's gay no shot no policymaking ability. Krieger wasn't ruined by torts like so many said. He's ok that's about I t. Steps is a slower, gayer, less talented Adam Oates. Nash is known as the biggest fussy in the league. Like I've been saying for two years, we have almost no talent up front. All 2nd and 3rd line guys.
I agree. I'm just saying that it really speaks to the Rangers depth that a player like Klein is playing on the bottom defensive pair or two third liners who will most likely put up 50+ points this year. I also don't know how many teams have a top three defensively as good as McD, G and Staal. Hank is the best in the league in net. The Rangers have three good scoring lines and a fourth line with a good mixture of special teams, fighting, defense and offense. The Rangers haven't played up to their potential this year. If players like Nash, Stepan, Richards, Staal and Hank had been playing well all year, the Rangers would have a lot more wins. This team has the talent to win the cup. They probably had it before MSL, and definitely have it with MSL. The question will be which version of the Rangers shows up in the playoffs. If its the pre-olympics Rangers, then they have a good shot at the cup. If its the team that showed up against the Flyers and Bruins on Saturday and Sunday, then they will be out in the first round.
Laugh at them being a Cup contender, next year their prize addition will be 40, also they picked up a midget defenseman who Is 18th on our depth chart...nice job Slats...
I disagree. I think the Rangers have a significant talent edge on the Bruins. If the Rangers are playing well, they are a better team than the Bruins.
You know, in the late 90's/early 00's, the Rangers had a big talent advantage on a lot of teams that consistently won more than they did. And what's funny is, even if talent was all that mattered and the game was played on paper, the Rangers still wouldn't be a Cup contender with their mediocre-at-best center talent.
"If the Rangers are playing well" It's almost as if a collection of one-dimensional, "talented" forwards are inconsistent and less than the sum of its parts... hmm.
Points are points, Rangers need as many as they can get. Going to be tight all thre way to the playoffs. Can someone tell me whas the deal with the wildcard?
It's retarded - in each conference, the top 3 of each division make the playoffs. Then the next 2 with the best record from both division make the playoffs. But don't ask me how they seed the matchups because I have no fuckin idea
Found this on nhl.com The seeding of the wild-card teams within each divisional playoff will be determined on the basis of regular-season points. The division winner with the most points in the conference will be matched against the wild-card team with the fewest points; the division winner with the second-most points in the conference will play the wild-card team with the second fewest points.
The whole martyrdom of Ryan Callahan is starting to give me a headache. Can I please remind my fellow Rangers fan that the guy, who said he wanted to Remain a Ranger "above all else" turned down 36 Million dollars over six years. I guess that amount of money was not "Above all else". Callahan cares a lot more about green than he does blue, which is fine. If he wants his money, he should go and get it. Just stop with the martyr crap.
