Wouldn't mind him backing up Geno at all.

    1. Michael Johnson to Tampa
    2. Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie back to Denver
    3. Rodger Saffold to Oakland
    4. Branden Albert to Miami
    5. LaMarr Houston to New York Jets

This is odd, those are 5 predictions of where some FA will end up. The first 4 have all been heavily rumored, but I haven't heard anything about Houston to the Jets. He was 4-3 DE, I don't even know if he translates to a 3-4 OLB (because he sure as hell isn't starting over Mo or Sheldon).

Houston can play in a 3-4, but as an interior lineman more then likely, he's not going to play OLB and set the edge - he's going to get interior pressure.

I don't see that happening at all.

Me either...no chance we go after Verner and Houston, two guys we clearly struck out on by drafting Wilson and Ducasse. We are seriously done addressing the D Line as I see it. We are formidable at the position, even depth wise with Ellis backing up Snacks and hopefully we'll resign Douzable as a backup DE

I want Idzik to be cautious with the money he spends, but he also needs to significantly improve the team. Bringing in Roberts, Hawkins or Sanders is not going to be such a significant upgrade at wide receiver. None of those guys are #1 WR's, and Sanders is the only guy who is a #2. I don't even think Sanders is a good #2. I'm not saying that the Jets should sign every big name free agent, but if the Jets come away from free agency with a #2 WR, a slight upgrade at safety, an average guard and a downgrade at CB from Cromartie, I don't think you can consider the Jets a much better team.

So far I don't like the list of players that I see that the Jets have shown interest in. I see a list of cheap players that aren't going to cost a lot, but I don't think any of them are huge upgrades on what the Jets already have.

Verner isn't an upgrade over Cro?

I don't think so, but even if the Jets bring in Verner, that can't be the big signing for the offseason. I think the Jets need to come out of free agency saying that they got a massive upgrade at one position and a few small upgrades at other positions. Bringing in Verner who doesn't fit the scheme to begin with to replace Cromartie is not what I consider to be the signing that the Jets need. They need a big playmaker at WR or a safety like Byrd as their big offseason signing. Anything less isn't a successful offseason in my opinion considering all the money the Jets have to spend. Hypothetically, bringing in Verner, Sanders, Hawkins, Asamoah and Clemons is not going to improve the team that much. Thats a slight upgrade at RG, #2 WR, #4 WR, FS and a small downgrade at CB in my opinion.

Verner is 5 years younger than Cro, and is a lot more technically sound at the CB position than Cro has ever been. I liked Cro, but he had a lot of shortcomings. Verner will very much be an improvement over him if we signed him.

Verner and Byrd are two of the guys I'd want to sign. Both would fill a lot of big holes we currently have.

Asamoah is a upgrade over Colon/Winters
Sanders is a huge upgrade over Hill or Nelson
Hawkins is quality depth at our weakest position
Clemons is a real FS we have had 2 SS (Landry/Allen) and is an upgrade over our weak S
Verner is a huge upgrade over Cro he was one of the best CB in the league last year and Cro wasnt Verner is 25 and entering his prime Cro is 29 and ut of his prime

    Completely disagree

Why are you saying Verner doesn't fit out scheme..do you really think Rex is going to sign a player that doesn't fit what he wants to do?

There's no number 1 receiver out there.

And Verner is a massive upgrade over Cromartie. Cromartie was one of the worst CB's in the league in 2013.

Jets priority on defense is to their strengthen secondary: Browns safety T.J. Ward is also on their Persons of Interest list. #nyj

I don't know much about Verner except that he was real good when we played him this past season... Did he play mostly outta zone in Tennessee or was it man?

They are either keeping tight lipped about Byrd, or really are not interested in him :-/

Sorry, couldn't respond on mobile device.

I'll admit I am making a lot of assumptions as well...

My assumption is Vick will run the wild cat offense and Geno will run the regular west coast offense. I feel strongly that switching plays/offenses up during drives really hurts the rhythm simply because the fundamental reason for calling a wild cat play is to change the pace.

Do you think while acquiring a bunch of new offensive players, some rookies, some not, who will need to learn the playbook, it would be beneficial to get crazy with things?

I really can't see Vick working out well.

If they want to bring Vick in for the wildcat I hope they don't do that. I despise the fucking wildcat.

    Same, that's my concern.

Again, I made this assumption so I def. could be wrong.
