Why would you guys make Phill Jackson a coach? Dude is 68 and cannot handle the 82 game season. he should have the same role as Pat Riley does with the Heat.
Dude, read what we are talking about...We dont want Phil as coach. We want him as President, GM, Head of basketball Operations. he will hire his own coach, the guy needs to take over the Knicks. Thats what we want. Fuck him coaching
Frank Isola @FisolaNYDN 1 minute ago I do think there's a chance Phil joins Knicks in some capacity. I heard Wednesday that the Knicks were up to something. Maybe Phil is it.
The Knicks need someone with credibility to sit across from free agents and pitch them on being Knicks. That someone has to have enough authority and respect with players to compensate for the lack of respect they undoubtedly have for James Dolan and hesitancy to want to play for him. someone who they know knows basketball and are confident in his decisions. Phil Jackson certainly is that guy.
OMG OMG Frank Isola @FisolaNYDN 1m Phil Jackson is mulling an offer to join the Knicks front office, the Daily News has learned. http://nydn.us/1cgZ2sj Knicks offer Phil Jackson a front office position, expect a decision from Basketball Hall of Famer next week According to an NBA source, Garden Chairman James Dolan has met with Jackson about a potential return to the franchise where he was a member of the Knicks' only two championship teams. Stephen a smith reported today phil said no to a coaching job. This is a separate story I believe. Do you know which one the radio was referencing?
Cool thanks for finding that out. Not to be pessimistic, but it should be said Phil hasn't had this type of job before. President of bball operations or GM is different from being head coach. Granted, me personally, I don't see how having Phil Jackson could make use worse so I hope this happens
How is it a different scenario? Amar'e was hitting free agency as well. All I'm saying is that Amar'e has a chance to do the right thing if he wants a chance at a title. He hasn't lived up to his contract, plain and simple. I'd say that IS his fault. Yeah it was a bad contract as well, but he hasn't come close to living up to it. And I wouldn't mind Phil Jackson in the front office at all. He can help work with the coaches and teach them the triangle offense. It could work very well with Melo, Bargs and Love could do just that and I feel we'd get way more out of Bargs that way. The Knicks need to stop signing so many old washed up players. Take your base and build youth around it.
Lebron had wherever he wanted. He was going to get paid and he was going to get endorsements. Lebron was entering his prime. Amare is, well he's at the tail end of his career. And even if Amare opts out just to resign and take less, the Knicks will still be over the cap and why would he opt out to resign for a one year contract for less. The Knicks would be shooting themselves in their foot if Amare opted out and they signed him to multi year deal. Completely different scenarios. No, there is no doing the right thing for Amare. If there is a right thing, it's him opting into his contract and collecting the paycheck he won't get from any other team. It isn't up to him to fix the Knicks mistake.
@IanBegley: Phil Jackson is leaning toward becoming the Knicks president of basketball operations, a source tells @stephenasmith. http://t.co/ZZUniuJArv
OMG Knicks fans we are almost there. Its about to go down. DONT FUCK IT UP DOLAN https://twitter.com/SportsCenter/status/442430791076020224 https://twitter.com/SportsCenter/status/442433901773209601 Marc Berman @NYPost_Berman 5m Mills on report Jax leaning toward taking basketball operations job says "Can't talk about it." @SportsCenter 5m THIS JUST IN: Phil Jackson is leaning toward taking job with Knicks to become president of basketball operations. Jordan Schultz @Schultz_Report Follow James Dolan and #Knicks appear to have sweetened the pot by offering Phil Jackson full control. Phil has emotional ties to Knicks. 6:32 PM - 8 Mar 2014
Jordan Schultz @Schultz_Report I would expect Phil Jackson to take over Knicks Head of Basketball Operations by Monday. 6:40 PM - 8 Mar 2014
Dolan finally needs to spend his on credibility. this is the way to do it. it doesn't make him more credible, but it does the Knicks. Phil runs the team next year, Carmelo plays out the final year of his deal, and next off season Phil pitches all the big free agents with coming to Knicks with him coaching.
