very funny about the carmelo misses and him getting his own offensive rebounds. Very funny. The broadcasters always say look at the spring..his incredible ability to get his own offensive rebounds! To me, Im always thinking he is the worst superstar a finishing his first shot. One thing about Bernard King was he was the best finisher I have ever seen in my life on fast breaks etc. Anthony may be one of the worst (only including the great players in that mix). Its sad when you see him drive to the basket how many of his shots get blocked or miss. I despise Lebron James..hate the guy..thats my own problem..but every year you hear James say he is working on improving one aspect of his game and he comes back a better shooter..or better from 3's. The guy just gets better. Anthony has sucked...I mean sucked..under the basket for years. Horrible. You would think he would improve in one aspect of his game by now...nothing. Would I poor all that money into him? Yeah..is there a choice? Someone tell me the system to get one proven superstar here in the next couple years and I would bite.
Knicks Owner James Dolan Is the Einstein of Incompetence Earlier this week John Giamella, a 19-year-old man from StatenIsland, was arrested after tweeting a death threat directed at New York Knicks owner James Dolan. Like you, I found this news astonishing: Only one person has sent Jim Dolan a death threat this season? James Dolan is the Einstein of incompetence. The Nureyev of nepotism. He's Fredo Corleone, without the charisma. New York City is flush with homeless people, none of whom could possibly mismanage the Knickerbockers - or present a more slovenly physical appearance, for that matter - any worse than the 58-year-old Dolan. There is true genius at work here. Seriously. The scion of a true media visionary - Dolan's father, Charles, founded HBO, among other entrepreneurial feats - Jim Dolan's stewardship of the Knicks since 1999 has been a reflection of himself: spoiled, careless, compulsive, fiscally imprudent and devoid of inspiration. His reign provides compelling evidence that not only may the apple fall far from the tree, it may have never even been attached to the tree. If it is even an apple. http://mag.newsweek.com/2014/02/28/knicks-owner-james-dolan-einstein-incompetence.html
If Phil comes here and gets full control, I would love it. It could go horribly wrong, but Phil getting full control would be awesome just to get away from Dolan. I'm sure Phil would let JVG coach too or the Knicks make a run at Tom. Phil coming here changes EVERYTHING for the Knicks. I doubt Dolan gives up control
I mean Melo has improved his 3 point shooting and his rebounding and defense in his career. But under the basket nope. I also think Melo takes more contact than other top players with less fouls in the paint. He also isn't as explosive as Lebron or durant and the Knicks rarely get easy fast break buckets to pad the shooting % at the rim. But to your end point, do you pay him the money? Yeah. Do I trust the Knicks to pay him the money and find the right stars around him in 2015, no. Do I trust the Knicks to smartly use the money if Melo leaves to build a great team, no. Not this Knicks FO
http://nypost.com/2014/03/04/knicks-face-wolves-love-eye-ways-to-bring-him-to-n-y/ Talk about a pipe dream.
Hey if the NBA thinks the Knicks ruined Chandler and Shump and want to pay a high price for them, I'm all for it!
The Knicks are screwed. They might as well just bite the bullet. At this point they should do the following: 1. Bring back Jeff Van Gundy and sign Charles Oakley to be a toughness coach 2. Bring in Ewing as an assistant coach 3. Convince Amar'e to take a pay cut for the team (get on your knees Dolan, you owe us) 4. Sign a real point guard with the extra cash 5. Trade Chandler/Jr for Love 6. Keep Melo, Shumpert, Hardaway, Bargs, Stats, and fill in the gaps with young guys with upside. 7. ????? 8. Profit
1) JVG only coming back if he can get full control and no Dolan meddling. 2) Knicks have avoided him for some reason 3) Haaaa how? The Knicks don't have an amnesty and Amare has an opt in clause. Why would he opt out of all that money when he clearly won't get that on the open market. 4) Knicks are way too over the cap to have extra money as of right now. 5) This trade would be cool. I was hearing rumors of Chandler being traded for Love in theory. The tough part is Love would have to want to resign here. 6) With what draft picks? 7) Yeah question marks is right 8) Profit, Dolan is already profiting.
It's a tough situation for the Knicks, it's why everyone was so frustrated the trade deadline came and passed with no moves except the rumor of Knicks wanting a player for the "playoff push"
https://twitter.com/Chris_Broussard Broussard reporting Noah and Melo talked about playing Tom T and Noah reports that Melo said he admired how the Bulls play and D. Rose is his son's favorite player. There are also rumors that Tom T was getting recruited by NYK to coach for them, so that is the other side of this coin. Broussard goes onto say his sources say Melo would have a hard time turning down the money from NYK. The other thing is that the Bulls would have to trade to get Melo since they are over the cap. They also have their amnesty which they would have to use. How much that would take away from their team will be important to see. The Bulls can't sign him outright so that's an added problem.
^I'd be very happy with Tom T on the Knicks. He's a good, serious coach that holds players accountable has them playing with passion. The Bulls over achieved many of those years with no Derrick Rose. It's funny, the day after I posted that, an article came out about Van Gundy possibly returning. I'd jizz in my pants. I agree about the Dolan meddling. And as for #3, Amar'e should do the right thing. We already paid him tons of money he didn't deserve and has enough to send his grandchildren's grandchildren through college. Money should be no object for him now, winning a championship should be more important. Dolan getting down on his knees and slurping away might convince him as well.
Haha if I was Amare's shoes, I'm taking the money. He's getting paid and at the tail end of his career. I take that money. The team offered you a contract, and it was probably a mistake. It's not up to Amare to fix that mistake. It would be awesome if Amare took less and all that, but kind of like how I wouldn't blame Melo if he left, I'm not blaming Amare if he takes the money
And the Knicks will always be rumored to top coaches/GM opportunities. Maybe I'm being a jerk, but I think it all comes back to Dolan and him getting out of these peoples ways. If he doesn't, Knicks won't get these top guys
It all depends how much he values a championship. Lebron could have commanded a max deal easily, but he didn't because he wanted to compete for a title. Stats will do the same if that is truly his goal. Amar'e is the 3rd highest paid player in the league both this year and last year, making more than Carmelo, James, Wade, Howard, Bosh and Joe Johnson. That is absolutely absurd as he isn't close to any of their levels. Amar'e owes it to us, he should do the right thing. If not, fuck him. He was a terrible investment and shouldn't have been overpaid like that. I mean, the doctors even said he could have knee issues in a few years and were right. Why the hell did they back load his contract like that? Pure stupidity.
Lebron was hitting FA which is a completely different scenario. He doesn't owe us anything. The Knicks gave him a contract, it's not up to Amare to fix their mistake.
So it looks like Steve Mills went to go see Phil Jackson to be the next head coach of NY Knicks Are you kidding me man? Head coaching job? are you for real http://espn.go.com/new-york/nba/sto...e-mills-met-phil-jackson-coaching-possibility And they send Steve Mills? Seriously......He wants President job, jeez
^ interesting. I find it hard to believe that they only met about coaching though. They know, as every knows, Phil has wanted to be a GM too. Nothing about that in the leak...
