I don't think you have to have a "#1", we didn't have a true #1 when making the playoffs in the early-mid 00s.
It was a 3 score game in the first half. The game was not yet decided. We still had a chance. Still that is 2 games, are you seriously going to look away at that?
I remember those plays like it was yesterday. Just urgh, so frustrating to watch as a fan. He tried acting like a diva, yet he isn't good enough. You are defending him as if he's a #1 WR that is reliable. He hasn't done shit for this team since the catch in N.E. Lol, shutup
we were down 28-0, his TD made it 28-10. was it over? no but the odds of us coming back were incredibly slim. I don't absolve him, he made mistakes but he has done more good than bad for us.
Dude that is bs. Jets still had another half to play. The score was 28-10 after the TD. Jets still had a chance. He should have stayed focused and got ready for the next drive. He's done more GOOD then BAD? Seriously? you are out of your mind. His mistakes led to us missing the playoffs in 2011 despite the Giants debacle. What did Holmes do last season against the Panthers in a big drive (the one that led to Geno's pick 6). Did Holmes even read the coverage on that play?
it was a dumb celebration that didn't end up hurting us. that isn't why we lost, the goof ups bradway discussed are more why we lost. he was huge for us when we were closer to a SB than at any point since SB III. That alone makes it more good than bad but he had huge catches in 2011, 2012 before he got hurt and again this year in limited action.
Celebration? it was a TAUNT to the entire crowd and it riled up the Eagles even more. Holmes was the reason why we lost against the Eagles. We tried getting him involved early and often and it led to a 14 point deficit. He did a good job in 2010 no doubt, but the min he received the contract the minute he started acting up. A malcontent asshole that hasn't help contribute in 2 seasons yet you defend him. Whatever junc. you seriously need to know the impact of having good players with good attitudes. The Holmes, the Albert Haynesworths, it ain't worth the price. Holmes contract easily the worst contract the Jets have given out in the past 6-7 years.
how did the team overachieve in 2013 w/ him then? why were we 2-2 w/ him in 2012 and 4-8 w/o him? I don't defend his poor play at Philly or what he did at Mia or in the LR that year but to act like h sabotaged us isn't being fair.
The team in 2013 overachieved due to the defensive line and the running game. Also, add in some sprinkles of Geno Smith and luck. Remember in 2013, Kerley did not play a bulk of games. Outside of Kerley, we didn't have a dependable receiver on a weekly basis. Holmes is not dependable. Holmes = Malcontent asshole that must be cut. Time to move on junc. He helped sabotage 2011, he should have been a leader. He had the "C" on his chest.
but you blame him for holding the team back before that, how did we overachieve w/ this malcontent? The "C" thing went to his head, he was a huge leader on the 2010 team w/o the "C". I hate those stupid meaningless patches.
Because that malcontent wasn't playing (nor did he have a big role on the team). We were 5-6 with Holmes in the line-up. Holmes doesn't run his mouth and doesn't play in Carolina, maybe we win that game. When we tried to get him involved intentionally it never ended well.
you think Geno threw that INT at Carolina b/c Holmes ran his mouth during the week? didn't he play in the last 4 when we went 3-1? it's silly to blame him.
Yeah, I don't think you can find it online. Holmes waved at Smith asking for the ball before the play. That played a big role in the INT
http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2013121510/2013/REG15/jets@panthers#menu=highlights&tab=recap click the link, where is he waving and it's still the QB's responsibility to make the right read.
that is a good angle, he had 3 open receivers and tried to force it to Holmes who was covered. was that Holmes' fault b/c he was pointing?
Geno Smith is a raw rookie QB, looking to lean on his veterans, Holmes pretty much showed the Jets cards, Geno was already known to force passes, this is no different. Holmes as the veteran should not have done that. If this happened to Mark, you would blame the receiver.
Holmes saw something and pointed, we have no idea what he said. Maybe he was saying don't throw it this way?
