Well as much as I hate to admit it I have been watching the combine in Indy, Yesterday they had all the WR'ers run the 40 and M Lee did not do such a good job. Also it was noted that Rex and Rob were see in the same both a Ande Reid which had some thinking the Jets amy be picking his brain about Michael Vick. So there is some stuff out there just have to look really hard to find it. Also sucks that they pushed the draft back until May. For me the next big event will be the beginning of FA in March.
Per Rotoworld, "According to CBS' Jason La Canfora, some rival executives believe Darrelle Revis is "ripe to be dealt" at the start of the new league year on March 11." When is the deadline for Revis to be on the roster for the Jets pick to be a 3rd or a 4th?
But if Revis isn't on the Bucs roster by a certain day, we only get a fourth instead of a third, which would really suck considering we could get a solid player with that 3rd.
He's not saying we should trade a third or a fourth he's asking what we would get back if traded by a certain day.
Why would the Bucs get rid of Revis? To save an extra round from the 3rd to 4th.....that's really stupid. I don't believe the rumor.
Just read some additional info that said the Bucs have been taking phone calls for him but aren't actively shopping him. Teams are inquiring but aren't offering anything substantial yet. I don't blame the Bucs, why pay a corner 16 million when you have plenty of other holes.
Last year is NOT this year, the bucs may feel he's not worth the investment anymore, things change EVERY DAY let alone every year. Your statement is rather myopic.
What would the Bucs be getting? Well let's say it's the Detroit Lions calling and what they're offering is their 2nd round pick, #45 overall, for Revis. What the Bucs get in that situation is the #45 and the #69 overall (Buc's 3rd rounder) for Revis and the #100 overall (Bucs 4th rounder). They get $16 million in cap relief in the process and get to add two very good prospects. It's a very believable scenario from the stand point of a team that just went 4-12 and is apparently not all that confident in the young QB who played most of last year.
My statement isn't myopic. Believing rumor's from Rotoworld is more myopic. Glazer knew what the cost was signing the deal last year. I can't believe the Buc's new head coach with his defensive backround would be in favor of this move. Even if the rumor has any truth to it the Buc's would be losing leverage and not be able to ever recoup a 1st & a 4th rd pick.
A lot of reasons why they would get rid of Revis, new General Manager is trying to build a team, paying 16 million for a cornorback might not be his vision.
