Well Melo wouldn't be joining any of these teams right now. If he's willing to take less than max, Miami is an option. Chicago is in play clearly. LA is bad now, but there future looks brighter than NY. Then I'm sure teams like Dallas and etc could find ways to create room for Melo. Teams that have a better immediate windows than the Knicks are in play, again next year to my understand have the Knicks have nothing to work with. No cap room even if Melo walks and no draft picks. I understand there is potential for Melo to join a team and for them to suck too. But right now, I really don't see how the Knicks can lay out a good plan for Melo that doesn't involve "so in 2014 we are going to stink again".

They missed their chance by not trying to trade Tyson for picks.

The Shump trade depends how the Knicks feel about Shump. He becomes a RFA after 2014. So a team would have to trade a 1st then match any offers for Shump, that's a slight risk. If the Knicks are down on Shump, a team might poison pill or just sign Shump and expect the Knicks to not match and let Shump walk for nothing. Reportedly Shump was being offered to OKC for a 1st. Don't know how true that was, but that would have been good for NY to just get a pick this year.

The Rondo trade is interesting, but Boston needs more for the money to match. We would have large expiring contracts, but those seem to be less valuable in the new CBA. It also brings the fact that Rondo would need to agree to resign and could this trade happen or be in the works when Melo decides to resign or not with the Knicks? Lots of moving parts. Knicks really messed up the trade deadline to blow it up.

Jim Dolan should stop snorting cocaine for just one night so he can get around to firing Mike Woodson. This is Isiah Thomas ALL over again

Future is dark and gloomy boys. If only we could boycott the team.

JR Smith play really really well tonight. Cole Aldrich went +12 in the first half and the Knicks went on a run to cut a 13 point lead to 1 with him on the court. He was put on the court because of foul trouble for Tyson, Amare, and Tyler. The knicks started their big Chandler/Amare/Melo lineup to start the game. Overall Amare is -10 in the first half

I don't even know. Knicks did the typical make crazy plays late to tie the game. Then have a TERRIBLE possession with 30 seconds left. Dirk hits a jumper that goes in and out and flutters above the hoop then goes in to win.

Quick hitting analysis of the game:

Mavs had the ball with around 50 seconds left and got a shot off around 36. They missed ,but the 2 for 1 guaranteed them another possession.

The Mavs noticed whenever they put Felton in a PnR, Felton would switch onto Dirk every single time. The only time the Knicks successfully countered was when Felton/Tyson trapped with 50 seconds left in the game.

Melo was ridiculous, JR overall played one of his better games. Again, Amare gets lost in the shuffle. He's good for a boost off the bench, can't play him extended minutes. Cole did a wonderful job of being in the right spot and grabbing rebounds when he played shortly.

Coaching matters in the NBA. It's a popular thing people say to talk down the NBA, that you don't need coaching. The Knicks with the Rick, the Dallas coach, are a .500 ball club at least.

And this was your typical Knicks. We've collectively touched upon the "fake comeback", "ridiculous plays to give hope", "make you believe in basketball gods" etc etc before only to watch the Knicks snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Happened again. If you can bear to, that Dirk shot is a BRICK. Terrible shot. Horrible shot, it went in though.

Part of me does feel just a little bit bad for Raymond Felton. Yes he sucks, he looks over weight, the entire city hates him, and his wife is leaving him. Now he has this over his head (by his own choices and faults).

Pretty sleazy of the wife to rat him out on having it but that doesn't change the fact that he had a gun in NYC. That's as stupid as it gets, Plaxico Burress anyone? NYC is zero tolerance and mandatory jail time on this. Mace, taser, a fucking samurai sword, ... ANYTHING else would have been a slap on the wrist - instead now he's going to be a convicted felon.

Just call him Raymond Felon from now on

    SEE YA

I feel bad for Raymond Felton. As much as I complain about him on the court, I never wish these guys any problems off the court. They are still regular people and this could dramatically change his life.

You feel sorry for a guy owning a gun in NYC, ummmmm why??

Dude totally brought this on himself, you can't be that stupid. Actually you can if you're some drugged out gangbanger dropout in the projects in Brownsville, but this guy is a professional athlete with everything to lose. NYC is zero tolerance, you HAVE to go to jail if convicted. He has to know this

A millionaire doing this much of a stupid thing. I feel so sympathy. He got himself a smart wife and he went and shit it down the tubes.

What sounds worse here is he took the weapon out and pointed it to someone. Owning a weapon is bad but I have to assume he should have never had it in New York or at least turn it in

That's not what I heard. I heard Felton is going through a bitter divorce and the wife called the NYPD to tell them he owned an illegal gun

I would be shocked if out of desperation...Woody is gone in the next 72 hours. Too late...of course..but when Dolan opens his mouth about having a team that can make it to the finals....Woody is gone.

The defense this team plays..I mean...nothing to say. Woody is getting canned. I really believe that happens.
