Embarrassing performance. Looks like our gold medal game was against Russia.

Now 5-0 after Suter takes a childish penalty

Canada's overall talent base is a lot better than anyone else's. I agree with you that the difference in the 25 man rosters at the Olympics is not that big, but there isn't anyone that can complete with Canada 1-25 yet. No one can match the depth that Canada has. I think the USA is at the point where the best 15 or so players can go head to head with Canada and not see a huge gulf in talent, but those next ten is where you see the difference. I think its similar for Sweden, Finland and Russia as well.

The Bronze Medal means nothing to me. The United States needed to win the Gold, and anything less can't be seen as anything other than a disappointing Olympics.

well it should've meant something to the players. You do the best you can. You don't get gold, you should at least medal.

Good post. I can agree with that. Tough game today for your boys, didn't expect 5-0. I think USA hockey is doing well though, lots of good players coming out of there.

Coaching is a problem though. Goofs like Dan Bylsma shouldn't be coaching the team at a tournament like the Olympics. Poille as the GM is another head scratcher. The roster selection was awful. Leaving Ryan, Okposo, Byfuglien and Yandle off the team were big mistakes.

I'm just at a loss as to why guys like Bobby Ryan, Keith Yandle, and Dustin Byfuglien did not make the roster. And how did Brooks Orpik and his 12 points and Dustin Brown and his 16 points deserve spots? Ugh Quick ripped the team saying "there's no reason we show up and don't even piss a drop"

I would put Dustin Brown on there for sure. He brings intangibles stats cant measure, I think he's legit. But Yandle, Okposo and Ryan should have absolutely been there.

Orpik is trash. Absolute mistake there, Byfuglien is, believe it or not, faster with way more offensive upside. That was a colossal error.

Canada is just tiring out the Swedes...it's starting to show now and just the presence of Canada's forwards is the difference...also their suffocating defense. If Sweden can't make Price move side to side and just keep shooting it at him it's gonna be game over. Backstrom is out with a migraine

Intangibles as in we don't know how many penalties he'll get in a given game. Kings offense has been terrible Brown should have stayed in the states

The Swedes are upset over why Backstrom didn't play. Apparently, Backstrom tested positive for a banned substance that he takes for the migraines that he gets from his allergies. He isn't going to get his silver medal because he tested positive for a banned substance.

I understand the IOC's drug testing policy, but I think its ridiculous to test NHL players when they are already being tested in the NHL. They know what they can and can't take in the NHL. Its not fair to the players to make them learn a different list of banned drugs. If Backstrom hasn't been found doping in the NHL by taking his migraine medication, then its unfair to accuse him of doping in the Olympics for it.

Backstrom wouldn't have made a difference in the game today, but to deprive him of a silver medal and the chance to play in the Olympic Finals over something like that is a head scratcher. The IOC should not be testing professional athletes for banned substances when they are already being tested by their professional leagues.

Dan Bylsma and the selection committee needs to be chewed out. Canada has such a strong offense, what did they think was going to happen if they kept running grinders out there.

Felt like I was watching the Rangers

Don't know if Blysma had input on Orpik, but he was terrible and didn't belong, Blysma can't get his own all star team over the hump, Bruins will destroy them again...
