But getting back to the point...Why exactly is Carroll better than Harbaugh? The Seahawks have more talent than the 49ers. Harbaugh has been to the Champ game at least for 3 straight years. He has done so with 2 different QBs. Carroll is a good coach as well, but the discussion shouldn't be defined by a SB win. If that is the case, then as JStokes said, somebody like Brian Billick is a better coach than Andy Reid. I do not believe that is the case

 

Im gonna skip over all your bullshit and just say Jim Harbaugh is legit as fuck. Pettine is TBD, and Rex Ryan's most recent shit is worth more than your take on that. Goodnight, ball rashes.

 

He's the best young coach in the NFL and if I was starting a franchise I wouldn't take any other coach in the league over him right now. It doesn't even matter if he completely failed in that small part of his job even if I did believe that being coy about a job offer means that (and I don't). He and the GM could hate each others guts for all I would care if I was San Fran's Owner and if a major schism erupted I'd can the GM before I even thought about moving on from Harbaugh.

 

The Seahawks have more talent than the 49ers should be a plus on Carroll's side IMO. He had a hand in all the drafts that built their roster.

At this point, the numbers that matter point to Carroll being the better coach, at least in my opinion. He has won SB's in the NFL and National Titles in college, Harbaugh has done neither.

Maybe in 5 years we'll revisit this and Harbaugh will have led the 49ers to a couple of Titles and the argument will look different. But for now, Carroll has accomplished more.

 

What Carroll did in college is the least relevant factor anyone should ever consider in dicussing who is a better coach. USC was a pro team back when he was a coach--figuratively AND literally--and bailed on his players and his school because he new the sanctions coming down the pike. The coaching jobs that Harbaugh did at San Diego and then Stamford are arguably BETTER than what Carroll did at USC given the talent disparity and the payroll USC players were on.

Carroll was a shitty coach for the Jets and turned a really good Parecells built Pats team into a non-playoff team in 3 years and got his ass fired by Kraft.

He's never been a great coach but now he's got a very talented team and a great building.

Harbaugh has been successful everywhere he's ever coached.

He is fundamentally a superior coach to Carroll.
