We've been over all of this already. I don't understand why this topic isn't closed. Sanchez is about to be cut from the Jets. Whether he is re-signed or not is still up in the air, but why not cross that bridge when we get there. This topic dominates discussion and its about a guy who more than likely wont ever be a Jet again. Why not discuss guys that are going to be Jets for the 2014 season. I was a huge supporter of Mark for a long time, but his days are numbered, and he shouldn't be dominating the message board.
When you go to a restaurant, do you complain about what complete strangers order at a table across the dining room? "Hey buddy--WTFs with the chicken? Why are you ordering that? I like the beef better! Or the pasta!! Excuse me waiter, can you not let that guy order the chicken, it's upsetting me. Make him order the lasagna." You know you don't have to click. What's the compulsion? I think the Video Game forum is stupid. You know what I don't do? Thaaaaat's right. _
That's not a good analogy at all. The other tables aren't taking away from the food of my favorite restaurant. It was a good try, but a swing and a miss IMO. I do try to stay out of this thread because it is constantly going in circles and there is never any actual discussion. However, this forum is my go to spot to discuss all things Jets. And when one topic dominates all day everyday, it gets frustrating. The worst part of it is, its discussing a player who has probably wore Jets green for the last time. I'm not saying Sanchez cant be discussed, he was a huge part of Jets history. I just think this thread permanently going away may increase the discussion in the different aspects of the team.
I think Mark would've started as well. But Mark did not separate himself. Had he separated himself. Sanchez would've started week 3 against the Giants and then Geno would've done mop up duty. You don't put your "starter" in the 4th quarter of a meaningless preseason game.
Geno started that game to make the competition "Fair" because he could not start the week before because of his ankle and they had intended on going Mark Geno Mark. Rex does.
Ah one thing I do miss about the old website were the funny :lmao: characters n stuff like that haha.
If Sanchez played lights out against Jacksonville in week 2, he probably would've sealed the starting job. With Geno out with an ankle injury, Mark had a chance to cease the job and he failed. Which then goes back to my point. You don't put your "starting" quarterback in the 4th quarter of a meaningless preseason game.
IMO Sanchez played pretty solid in the Jacksonville game. The only mistake was the INT that Winslow could have made a better play on. He was nearly perfect on 2 scoring drives.
With a grain of salt; http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/eye-on...ne-do-the-jets-want-mark-sanchez-back-in-2014
remember hearing the same of Tebow last year, they were impressed with 'em or something a while before cutting him. trade bait fodder at best I'd say. can't do that without leverage, even if that might not work. "we're thinking of keeping him! cough up a pick if you want him! nobody'y buying it?... yeah alright we'll just cut him. actually the only thing I think will warrant a bidding war is if multiple teams want to take advantage of a certain contract number they'd want to give him after a trade and fear competitive pricing with another team if he hit free agency. wishful thinking that there'd be at least two teams just dying to get sanchez at value but thats the only way I see that happening.
Him running the clock out at the half is the same kind of brain fart that led to the buttfumble. For a 5th year QB that is unacceptable. He had some good moments but overall I didn't come out of that game feeling that Sanchez should be the week 1 starter. Which led to them feeling the need to see what Geno does in week 3.
Bone headed, But not damning. Had he come out of that play with a TD we'd never hear about it again. It was the preseason and I don't really hold it against him for trying to make a play if it wasn't immediately there. He didn't get sacked or turn the ball over. So that's a plus haha. Honestly though, The way he finished game 1 of the preseason, Combined with how he started game 2 is really where IMO he earned himself the starting spot. But we can agree to disagree on that. His final drive of the detroit game, : ( 6 for 6 60 yds TD ) The opening drive of the Jacksonville game. ( 3 for 3 50 yards and TD )
That's not the point he makes the kind of boneheaded plays that vets like himself should not be making. If a Mark was a better QB you'd overlook stuff like that. When mediocre QB's like Mark makes those mistakes it's damning.
I getting the feeling that Sanchez is gonna be with us when training camp opens. The Jets aren't done fucking up his career.
I said this a couple weeks ago but I am not sold that he will not be on the roster. All last offseason he was a lock to get cut, he wasnt cut though. I think he might have to restructure but the original notion was that Idzik was trying to distance himself from the past regime which has turned out to be not true at all. He has retained Rex, extended Sanchez's original stay, and has not hinted that Sanchez is guaranteed to be removed. I really think he is evaluating all options and is viewing Sanchez as an option as much as any other free agent QB.
Mad? It's an internet forum, I would never let something as insignificant as an internet forum make me mad. I'd probably visit the forum a bit less, but it wouldn't make me mad. All I said was that it gets frustrating when a majority of the Jets discussion is focused on Sanchez. The team has a lot of different areas that can be talked about.
