Boston update: It snowed some more the other day, no big deal. 2-4 inches I think. Snowed a bit today before turning to rain. Now around campus we have wet slush and some ice everywhere. Walking is dangerous! Supposed to hit 47 tomorrow and 50 on Friday. T shirt weather, time to melt this snow away.
Can't wait for all this snow to melt. I would be surprised if we didn't have some flooding in certain areas because of the melted snow
holy crap...holy crap...cant believe Im on. What the hell was that? Lots of regrouping to do here...lol.
ok, so we had snow, sleet rain and warming temps.now everything is icing over. roads are freezing and my driveway was an ice rink. just spent 2hrs chopping ice. ugh winter can be over now
Is this true? Never heard about that...to hell with him..or her. Ok...lets go backwards before we go forwards because there is a lot to talk about...a lot. Warm air...major cold front..and then a very active period next week that hopefully will be winters last hurrah. Now backwards...tried to get on this site to correct the last storm...the last post I made was about that storm on Monday because I mentioned the short range models had upped the anty. I also mentioned that the short term models have overdone numbers...and we need to keep an eye on that next week with several potentials. The short range models are high resolution models that sometimes better identify amounts...but sometimes they misread freezing rain for snow..sleet for snow..and snow ratios. Going forward, of course warm temps until Saturday. Then we return back to the friggin freezer with potential storms on Monday..lighter....Tuesday night/Wednesday...stronger...and Friday...much stronger. Now the pattern with the models has been to show big storms in the future only to have them peter out as we get closer and so is the pattern next week...smaller...bigger...biggest. With that said, the setup for the middle and then end of the week is pretty damn good for a snowstorm or storms. So we need to keep an eye on it. How do we look at a model in the long range and determine if its a possible good storm? Here is the Euro out about 168 hours. Notice off the midatlantic coast the storm. NOTICE and blue circle also over the Great Lakes...that is the high pressure...or our cold source. Now again, we are looking at 3 different disturbances and right now the ones for Tuesday night/ Wednesday and Friday are the ones to watch...BIG TIME.
So did I GQ, it's really the onl;y reason I come here every day. We better get Jay an award this year.
lol...brook..you are great..and thanks but I would never ever accpet that bud. That is really a nice offer but I would love to meet you guys at a game some time..that would be great!.. Hey Brook...i tried to send you a pm..but couldnt find how to do it yet!! Send me a message my friend.
Right now, everything from above post looks dead on. Cold front comes through on Friday..and it might act like a summer cold front. Thunderstorms and wind for some. Temps dont plunge but go down slowly over the day Saturday before a second cold front passes through and might bring us some snow showers at least Monday. Then a disturbance comes through on Wednesday and that could be significant but a few things have to happen..will talk and post some pics tonight. Then all the attention turns to Friday..and signals are REAL strong for a very big snowstorm. Sorry...very sorry. Loving snowstorms like I do, I either hope its a bomb..or nothing because who wants another tweener with 6-9. If it turns out to be nothing, will not lose sleep over that. Then..the Tuesday after that..two weeks from this past Tuesday, another storm. My thinking is that if that Friday storm comes true...that will be the end game for Winter with snowstorms. Winters like these usually end with one big bang and then boom...50s and 60s. The dates for the big storm are 2-28 to 3-1 or 3-2..so it comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb.
jay....that's a big range 2/28-3/2 which is it because I am supposed to fly home from Arizona on 3/2 and go to Disney on 3/3 I leave for Arizona on Thursday 2/27....Im good for that one? This fuckin blows
Jay, if you ever wanna hit Belmar, NJ for some saltwater fun, let me know and we'll hook up man! The Stellas are on me!
This winter weather stuff is riveting ! Keep em coming Jay,,,,,,might get interesting around here come Monday nite Tuesday !
Its not really jon...but 28 days in Feb...it looks more like a friday saturday event though if that helps out bud. Leaving on the 27th looks good today...of course Arizona to Disney is safe..so its a matter of do you get out on the 27th..right now its safe. I marked it down to keep checking if it moves up...morning or evening flight bud?
Now CMAN...that would be great...but the Stellas would be on me my friend. I have always been a fresh water guy...live for large mouths...but after spending the last 19 summers on and Island in N.C...I have been messing with Salt water. Every year I go down there and ask for fresh water and my wifes family laughs at me and tells me we need to find a private property place to fish because there are no public lakes within 30 miles of where we stay. So I wake up many mornings and surf fish out of desperation or we go out in the boat but...lets just say its not deep water stuff. Would love to bud. Checking day time models now for next weeks 3 potentials.
I second Brooklyn. I really don't care what Jay says. I know he does what he does because he genuinely loves forecasting / weather but the guy has probably saved at least 1 life. I'm serious. Someone stayed home under the advice of Jay and there was a tree that fell over, hitting the ground and not a car all because Jay took the time to warn the board. I'm in for 50$
