According to this article, the Jets are showing interest in Matt Schaub. I read it on Rotoworld as well, but can't seem to find the article now. Thoughts?: http://fansided.com/2014/02/12/nfl-rumors-new-york-jets-signing-matt-schaub/#!vFsNs
This is good if its legit. Before last season he was a very capable QB. We could (and need I remind people WE HAVE) done a lot worse then Matt Schaub.
It is on Rotoworlds website as well. I finally found it. Rotoworld doesn't just post bullshit usually
A Schaub pickup off a cut would be great. He's the perfect vet to come in and either push Geno into playing at top form or take the job if he can't. A trade is less interesting unless it is to get a bigger problem off the roster.
Agree here. Although, Houston might be interested in taking a stab at Sanchez. Draft a guy and have Sanchez battle it out. I could see a trade between Schaub and Sanchez happening.
To the people screaming no, who do you propose we get for qb2? Seems to me Schaub would be a perfect backup Geno, if he's willing. Interested who you think would be a better fit
I like it. I guess Mark's fans will say why go with a guy who is off a terrible year when we can stick with our own home grown player. I just think Schaub is better than Sanchez. If the money is right he's a Qb I would strongly consider signing. Which doesn't mean he's the starter.
The biggest difference is Sanchez is looking for a starting role and is a HUGE hit on our cap, while Schaub knows he will probably end up as a backup somewhere and will demand a lot less. I'll take Schaub any day if you just go by contract.
God if Idkzik pulls off a Schaub for Sanchez trade, bless him. If Schaub wins the job he can play at an average to slightly above average level, which, with our defense, would be good enough to get us to 10-6/11-5 and the playoffs.
i dont like schaub. hes not terrible or anything but i always saw him as benefiting from the weapons of the texans more than anything. i mean andre johnson and arian foster on the same team is a nightmare for defenses to gameplan for...
He would be not only a good backup but if he outperforms Geno in preseason and shows that last year was a fluke, I wouldn't mind going into the season with him as our starting QB if we had to.
Bingo. Schaub could win, play at an above average level, take us to the playoffs, all the while Geno is being groomed behind him ready to step in when Schaub's time is done. Win win in my book.
He's limited. He doesn't have a great arm, he can't make all the throws that you would like to see a QB make. But.... he's smart with the football (besides last year), he completes a high percentage of his throws, and he throws more TD's then picks lol. Something most Jets QB's in recent years can't figure out how to do. He's not a long term solution but he could help bridge the gap to another QB if Geno is not the answer.
