sorry for being away...snowblower...that was stupid..did front of the driveway first...did back..cameback to front with 2 inches back on it..the hell with..the weather guy is a flat out idiot. Good question Cakes..I dont know that answer but Its very very possible for two reasons..this storm is overperforming for the first part..and then the back end snows dont wrap up until around 4am? So...another 4 to 8 inches back end on top of this disaster...I would say very possible.
I've been driving since '98 so just missed the early 90's blizzards. Today is the worst driving conditions I've ever seen. Main roads off the highway have 4" of snow sitting on them. Not sure what's worse, the guys with RWD cars who have no business being out in this weather, or the guys in AWD trucks who drive like a-holes.
Just read all of your posts..a few..JONNY..yes...that number could be hit up by you for back end snows. JWWS..that is a huge number..heavy banding still coming through. GQ too..wow..just imagine if the back end numbers are accurate. MZ2OO..ROUGH TIME TO GET HOME...but at least roads should be empty. Ok..very important..dry slot we talked about or lessening is in central jersey..does it make it all the way up north jersey? Or does the radar start to fill back in..because right now i have 9..and Im getting 2 inches an hour in this orange: radar: http://www.wunderground.com/radar/r...tning=0&smooth=0&showlabels=1&rainsnow=0&MR=1
Total Franz? for the whole storm? or whats going on now..it has slowed down there in the dryslot I think. Tell me what you are looking for bud.
South brooklyn has been sleet and rain for the last hour... the forecast says all rain from 2pm-8pm....how much more snow do you expect for us in the back end?
rain snow line looks to the naked eye to run about near trenton straight to just around NYC...most of L.I. NOW..does it crawl north west..or does it go fast..because with that dry slot approaching..a lull in the storm...the rain snow line for many in NNJ would come in just as the storm lightens..and will not hold numbers down for later this evening.
got you bud..thought maybe you were driving that way. Well looking at the radar it looks to have really slowed down and maybe turned to sleet or freezing rain? I would think right now..the lull lasts for a several hours..before a resart to freezing rain..then maybe heavier sleet..before overnight snows down there. Latest models want to bring the heavy overnight back end snows from north jersey northeast to mass. Now, I still think central jersey gets a decent snow amount overnight..3 to 6 at least..and might lean higher. Thats when nowcasting starts...we just look at the radar as it swings back through and anybody looking at the radar can tell who is going to get clobbered..its very easy. We will do that tonight.
My wife wants a fire. See...you get it all from us. Cman and his truck..cbg and his dog...my wife wants a fire..which means me hiking to the back and grabbing wood because I was too lazy to do it last night. Be back in a few.
Updated numbers a little while back from Upton..NWS for this area. Its wrong my area because I have near 12 now..but Im wondering about our folks in L.I. and NYC..how much do you have..because those numbers seem very high for those areas...and Im wondering if thats back end snow.
I had to drive back and forth in it and some weather dude on stony brook campus measured 10 or more inches. Horrendous conditions in Suffolk.
Sorry faze..did not see this. I would guess your area would get at least 3 to 6. I hate spreads that big but tell me..how much snow did you get so far roughly?
10 inches...thats amazing for there. Im really trying to concentrate now on the back end snow because if NYC and L.I get bigger numbers..wow.
REPOST...important to read for tonight...this is the big question..when that snow in PA pivots back northeast..how much snow does that dump...that is a lot of snow still out there.
