FWIW, I have the Giants, Cowboys & Steeler Boards so you guys can plan accordingly when you might be OTC.
Schools wifi keeps crashing on me, I'm in class the next 3 hours and out at 7: if anyone is left on my board pick them, if not I'll be home between 7:30 and 8 depending on the weather if you want to wait.
I know, just trying to give a heads up. It's letting me on line for 1 or two mins then crashing constantly. Yay state school wifi lol
Thought about taking an o-line man, but didn't really like the value at all, so went with a WR. The Rams WR's aren't really that great, and could use improvement. Went with Jordan Matthews, who's probably the safest WR in this draft, and dominated the SEC conference. A Boldin clone, and the cousin of Jerry Rice. Can't go wrong..
Damnit I wanted Matthews to either be a Jet by our pick or for me to be the one who rains on everyone's parade by taking him 1 pick earlier. Rams taking him is so not fun.
I was between Matthews and another WR. Ultimately went with Matthews for the reasons I stated. Rams WR's are also small, so Matthews gives them some size at 6'3, 210 pounds as well.
Took the UCLA Guard....Giants need help on the OLine, and at guard Diehl just retired, Snee is coming off a nasty injury and is getting up there in age and the UCLA guard can step in and start at LG from day 1 and do a bang up job. Giants got two guys who can help from the LOS from a blocking standpoint, although Ebron still needs to show his pre-combine weight boost helps his blocking game.
The Matthews pick was a good one, mid 2nd round seems like a steal. I still question if the Rams have anyone who can throw him the ball as Bradford seems like he can't ever stay healthy and if Clemmens is your QB you are probably a mediocre team.
The Rams really need OLine help though as I saw with the Giants, not much in the OT department worth taking a flier on. Jake Long tore his ACL and they already needed help beefing up on the OLine before that. They have Pettis/Quick/Givens/Austin/Bailey.....I just don't know about another young WR. They can use a veteran maybe. Jordan Matthews can play though.
Pettis and Quick are pretty terrible. Givens and Austin are good deep threats and Austin adds real danger in gadgetry, but they do not have a proven reliable possession-style receiver who can run all routes. Maybe they hope Stedman Bailey can develop into a Welker type, but Quick hasn't panned out and I could see them trying to fill that role again with Matthews. JMO.
Its like the old saying about QB's, if your have 3 possible starting QBs its because you don't have one QB... The Rams are in the same boat, sure they have a ton of receivers, but how many of them should be on an NFL squad.
