Agreed, facts and science and logic are stupid. All hail preference rationalization and biased opportunism! http://www.cbsnews.com/news/homophobia-may-reveal-denial-of-own-same-sex-attraction-study-suggests/ http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8772014 http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/assault/roots/overview.html I think evolution is stupid. Therefore, evolution is a false theory. I think you've struck gold here LTJF. I think the Jets are the best team in the NFL, therefore they will win the Super Bowl next year! Another interesting fact about homophobes that may entertain TGG: they "are more likely to manifest high levels of authoritarianism and related personality characteristics." Could that possibly explain dismissing a correct argument as "stupid"? That'd be almost too predictable...
I'm posting from my phone right now can you give me the cliff notes? Look I don't care of you like dicks but I do think it's stupid if you think my use of a word indicates that I'm turned on by dicks.
There's a difference between personal opinion and fact-based arguments. When I cite a scientific study I'm not myself thinking that your use of the word means anything. Instead, I'm pointing out that a reputable study conducted on homophobia concluded that there exists a link between homophobia and suppressed homosexual arousal. You can accuse me of cherrypicking that data and say that my selective biased use of facts makes me incorrect, however 1) that's definitely not the case and 2) it would require you to provide an alternate source that contradicts the links I provided either now or at some point. Now, I did however use my personal opinion to determine that you are homophobic in addition to your use of the word "fag". But, because you're clearly a homophobe, my personal opinion happens to be correct. Additionally, there isn't really a mechanism by which one can determine whether another person is truly homophobic; that doesn't mean though that personal experience isn't effective in determining, at least degrees of, homophobia. Finally, I don't necessarily just have opinions that are universally or even contextually expressed; I make observations and then form an opinion based on conclusions drawn from those observations. Further, I consider my thought processes in creating opinions as well-informed, well-read, and as such, based on those facts. It's one thing if you want to cite another source or quote someone else but if you really think you can just say "it's your opinion against mine" and from that assume it means each of us has an equal chance of being correct or that neither of our opinions is necessarily correct in the absolute sense is absurd.
Also, most importantly, why does someone being offended by the improper and unsolicited use of the word "fag" necessarily mean that they themselves are gay? That in itself is more B.S. homophobia. If a white person calls the word "nigger" offensive, does it mean they're actually black on the inside and that they're secretly hiding it?
It isn't the feelings of awkwardness, it's the blatant use of derogatory language. "I ain't racist, I just don't approve of n*$&#)s using the same drinking fountains as us." :rofl2: Personally, I'd feel awkward showering with a group of guys, whether they were straight, gay or somewhere in between.
also http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog...106/homophobic-men-most-aroused-gay-male-porn As they say, the only thing worse than hating the enemy is hating yourself... Tldr: Gay porn gives many homophobes a boner.
For the record, this statement can either be legitimate (it's perfectly reasonable to not want to shower with other people and/or to not want to shower in an unfamiliar environment (i.e. in the company of other people of the same sex)) or illegitimate (I'd never shower with a fag).
Does your scientific study conclude that everyone who doesn't want to shower with fags or uses the word fag is a fag? My guess is that it doesn't. Just because "a link" is found by some study doesn't mean that something is true 100% of the time. In fact "a link" could be any percentage over 0%. Therefore I find your conclusion that I am at least slightly turned on by dicks in this situation to be quite silly.
Unlike you who did say you believed I was at least slightly gay I never said you were gay. I said that I didn't care if you liked dicks or in other words I don't care if you are gay. I thought you might be since you appear to be extremely offended by my use of the word fag. it's cool either way. I dont care who you sleep with.
let me ask you this barcs. would you want your daughter to have to shower with the boys in gym class? why or why not?
Read the studies for yourself (if you're able to) and get back to me. Ftr you seem very defensive about this topic... I could never imagine as to why...
You may not have meant that but you have to agree that calling someone who defends homosexuality a homosexual is a common tactic used by homophobes.
I will read them when I have time. I don't believe I've been any more or less defensive on this topic than I normally am but if it fits what you want to believe roll with it.
I haven't ever disputed that I am a homophobe but to be clear I really don't care if people are fags. It's only when they're flamboyant that it aggravates me. Again I never called you anything I simply said I didn't care if you were a homo since you were so defensive I thought you might be.
I'm sorry but those tests are fuckin stupid. I can't believe they wasted money on that shit. I also can't believe that you, Vandyjet - who I don't always agree with, but I at least can acknowledge you are an intelligent guy, would post these pathetic "experiments" to prove a point. For starters - how they defining homophobic vs. non-homophobic? That's very subjective. If I think being gay is gross, am I homophobic? What if I just prefer that people aren't gay? What If I really don't give a shit, but on my way to the experiment I got into an argument with a gay man? and second - they strap a thing to their penis and that can't determine what a real "boner" is? give me a break. For some of us married men just having something strapped to our penis can give an erection! lastly, even if you disregard all that other shit. What the hell does it all even mean? Like I think it wouldnt even prove a damn thing anyway even if I believe the hypothesis. what a waste of $$.
Yes. At least to a small degree. That feeling of grossness, whether you realize it or not, is derived from fear. They obviously measured change in circumference. (Nor did they immediately flick on the gay porn as soon as they strapped on the measuring device). It means they're ruthless hypocrites that need to accept themselves or go DIAF. Not all homophobes necessarily, but definitely the ones in Washington who pass discriminatory anti-gay legislation. And people like Ted Haggard. Edit: I also believe though that these studies are very important because it helps to de-legitimize authoritative and moral arguments made by homophobes that are otherwise impenetrable [pun intended] in many regards. It makes a lot of sense to prove that the people who are most ardently opposed to homosexuality are doing so not for the welfare of others but for the protection of themselves from themselves because they want the D but won't come {another pun} to terms with it. These people are using others' sexual preferences as a weapon against them so any political or scientific weapon to disparage their efforts is reasonable and welcomed. I wouldn't care to see it studied if it weren't a problem. See: Caleb Hesse, George Rekers, Troy King, Richard Curtis, Glenn Murphy, David Dreier, Roy Ashburn, Larry Craig, Ed Schrock, Robert Allen, Mark Foley...
Best typo ever. I never understood the frustration with flamboyance, either. It can be kind of annoying, just like teenage girls are annoying, but I never understood the infuriation. I guess I'll never understand many things, such as universal political correctness. I never understood that assumption. (Not pontificating, trying to start an argument or instigating here, but seriously). Are black people the only people who defend black people? Are those with mental health problems the only people who defend others with mental health problems? Or is it just that many feel it's a fair social assumption
I see it as an attention seeking type trait, which I despise anyone who screams for attention and has a "look at me" attitude. Are you gay?
