TE NR Colt Lyerla JR 6-5/250/- Oregon Hillsboro, OR
TE NR Jake McGee JR 6-5/235/- Virginia Richmond, VA

Outside of the top 3, what do you guys know about the TEs? I've seen Fiedorowicz and he's an excellent blocker, would be a great threat in the Red Zone, and has soft hands. I've seen Lynch play several times and have mixed thoughts on him. I think his hands may be suspect. Pederson and Crockett looked pretty good at the Sr. Bowl, and with Wisconsin running the ball so much, I think he must be a pretty good blocker. Najvar looked pretty good at the East-West Shrine Bowl game, and I remember hearing that he was used primarily as a blocker at Baylor but has pretty good hands. I've seen that Jensen is supposed to be pretty highly rated too. I know that Lyerla has a cocaine problem and I hope the Jets have no interest in him.

So what do you guys know about other TEs? Who are the great blockers that also have some athleticism and good hands?

I like Jensen, Niklas, Gillmore and Fiedorowicz. Rodgers is pretty solid as well but I think he could benefit from another year at school.

Gillmore impressed at the Senior Bowl and improved his stock a lot. Jensen and Fiedorowicz are huge guys. C.J. is much more athletic for his size, but I could see Jensen being a force in the NFL. Brute of a player, tough to tackle good hands.

Niklas surprised me. Thought he would stay another year but as an ND fan I like what I've seen. He's no Eifert but would be a great addition in rounds 3-4.

Forgot to mention Duncan. Got an invite to the Senior Bowl, not sure how he performed but getting an invite from a D2 school is impressive in it's own right. Had a great year.

Thanks. Yeah, Gillmore looked good in the Sr. Bowl. I think the Jets might be able to find a diamond in the rough in the middle or lower rounds at TE, and not have to use their #1 or #2 on a TE. I hope they're doing their homework.

I like Lynch he looked pretty good in the drills during Senior Bowl week. Richard Rodgers is a poor man's or bootleg version of Ebron, I'd call him Ebron-lite. If you like Ebron's game and miss him in the first, you can scoop up Rodgers in the middle rounds as your consolation prize. Oh yeah Gillmore looked really good during the Senior Bowl as well.

There always Colt "Coked-up" Lyerla at the bottom of the draft.

If we signed some worthy starters at WR in Free Agency, would anyone be fine with the Jets double-dipping at TE? Such as Ebron or Amaro in Round 1, and C.J. Fiedorowicz with our Tampa 3rd round pick?

I think Grimble is underrated. Guy is an excellent blocker and a good receiver. Asante Cleveland from Miami is a really good, athletic receiver at the TE position.

I would love this. TEs are important to an offense now, Ebron you can line him up anywhere and he could be a nightmare matchup (this is why I like him over Amaro). Fiedorowicz, prob the best blocker in the draft can also catch passes in the RZ. Give me those 2 guys.

TE position is revolutionary and can create plenty of nightmares for the defense

Hm. I think if we got Ebron or Amaro we wouldn't need another TE that early, but that's just my opinion. Cumberland is a suitable backup.

He can't block for shit. He was never taught the technique properly since he converted from a WR to a TE. We need someone who can block. Ebron is prob the better blocker between him, Amaro and Cumberland. Adding Fiedorowicz would add yet another dimension to the offense.

I would love an Ebron/Fiedorowicz combo at TE.

Logan Thomas should be on that list. He's a terrible QB.

Double dip at TE? No, I wouldn't have a problem with it using either the 1st or 2nd round pick and then a 5th or 6th round pick. A first and third round pick is a horse of a different color. There's no way I'd be on board for that even though I really like both Ebron and Fiedorowicz. The Jets have too many other needs. The only way I'd be ok with that is if in each case, the TE was by a wide margin the BPA and the Jets were not able to find any partners in a trade down.

I'd like Ebron & Fiedorowicz as well, e.g.

    - Ebron at #18
    - Beckham Jr. at #49
    - WR/OLB/S at #69
    - Fiedorowicz at #80

If we can't get Ebron at 18... I like Troy Niklas size and potential with one of our 3rd round picks.

Rockinz, ok say we get Ebron at #18 and you're Idzik, then what?

(the "Niklas or Fiedorowicz?" being another discussion for another time).

I know a lot of people on this thread love Ebron. I do not see value what so ever with the 18th overall pick with a TE. If you really want true value for Ebron, you trade down and hope to pick him up in the late 1st AND another receiver that may be there at the beginning of the second (Lee, Benjamin, Matthews, Landry etc.). History does not reward teams that draft TE early. Graham and Gronk were not first round picks. I like Ebron, just not with the 18th pick. I really hope they don't do that, but I think Idzik is smart enough to not draft a TE in the first.

There were two guards taken in the top 10 last draft. Talent is talent and if you got a need and Ebron has wowed you enough in the process, you take him and don't look back.

He might not even be there for the team by 18, we should be really happy if he's there for us to take.

I understand where you are coming from. I just feel an offensive weapon first round pick should yield instant star and if we draft Ebron he had better produce at a very high level. I just don't see it, just my opinion in regards to value in the draft. I would absolutely love him if we still got him but traded down and picked up another weapon in the process.

If we land Ebron at 18 i dont think we can afford to use another high pick on a TE... I think Cumberland can be a decent #2 TE...

I would try and nab one of these guys per round in the first 3 rounds.

    1st: Ebron
    2nd: FS/OLB/WR - Dion Bailey/Kyle Van Noy/Allen Robinson
    3rd (2): WR/WR/OLB/FS - Davante Adams/Jared Abbrederis/Brandin Cooks/ Kareem Martin/Jimmie Ward
