I rely on reality, you rely on stats. a top 10 ranking is nice but it doesn't tell all. How many times have we watched this "big time" D blow late leads? If our supposed big time D played anywhere near as good as a real big time D like Seattle we would have won a SB. and isn't amazing the 2 times Mark had it we made title games? how come those others we didn't? all coincidence since we had the '85 Bears D carrying him:lol:
So much this, this sums it up beautifully. For the New York Jets he's a tired retread spinning his wheels in a franchise he's failed to impress as a permanent starter, who would even be questionable as a "reliable" veteran backup. for other teams he's decent as a flyer, a QB with experience that warranted a booting in his original stomping grounds but maybe just needs a change of pace in a new environment to be better. Not a sure thing at QB, but is not the worse guy to kick the tires on. the type of excuses given to him on these boards work out FAR better in a new locale. That idea applies to a lot of other teams non-franchise QB's too. Sanchez benefits the most from a setup like this, rather than being in an awkward position as being a competitor on a team thats trying to move on from him he gets a genuinely clean slate to work with. the only way an Alex Smith deal works is if he's still being tried out as a permanent starter, and this is clearly out of play. (you don't make you're 6 year vet take a MAJOR pay cut in cap lenient year if you're sure of his abilities) He can't come back to a place where he was THE GUY for so long as a flyer,it just doesn't work that way.
Now you're just moving the goal posts. I said he started 15 games in 2005 and the Bears had a first round bye. He won 9 and 8 games as a starter. That proves you can win with him as your QB. Thus debunking your logic that you can't win with him as your QB. That is the point. Anything else you're trying to argue is you finding something to debate so you can "win" the argument.
Sanchez has helped win games for the Jets in the regular season and in the post-season. Orton played in 1 post-season game and they lost. Orton is a career back-up, a team announced recently they would start Sanchez if he were cut. I know you hate Sanchez, but damn look at the facts.
You are choosing 1 season, I am choosing more than 1 season. Essentially a larger scale. One season of marginal success (no post-season success) does not mean you can ultimately win with a QB.
Cant lie they were big games.. especially because for once we had very high expectations and at the same time were still a show and prove team bc of a rookie QB and HC in 09. and 10 was against the PATRIOTS.. following beating the COLTS that just beat us the year before. and we whooped them regardless of what the scores said. Im not for keeping sanchez at all i held on literally until the butt fumble play -- " Thats my qwuataback " *T.O. Face* But i can't lie and say those games weren't HUGE ... very special stretch. wish it continued but our team fell apart on offense year by year after that
Sanchez is still young and has proven he can step up and play big when the bright lights are on. If we get him some weapons to go along with finally having a proven offensive coordinator i think he can make a giant leap forward.
Yeah i think he can do all that to...else where. After all we've been through with Sanchez i doubt he'll ever be accepted in the MetLife again. Its (kinda) unfair but thats Jets fans for ya.. Plus we save a shit load of money by letting him go which is best for the teams growth esp. through this offseason.
I think Idzik is smart enough not to let nitwit fans dictate what he does. I do think he is gone but we'll see.
Obviously he is getting cut, his number is much too high. At this point in time, do you guys think he would want re-sign for cheap to come in and more than likely be number 2 on the depth chart starting out. I wouldn't be surprised if he actually told the Jets to piss off.
I never denied that Sanchez didn't help us win games. Orton helped his teams win games too. All I asked was what makes Sanchez the better QB? He also had a 9-7 and 8-8 season. Just like Sanchez had a 9-7 and 8-8 season. But Sanchez is a "winner" and Orton is a "loser".
The 8-8 season they started 6-0, finished 2-8. that's a winner! The 9-7 year they didn't make the playoffs, needed one win in week 17 to get in against a mediocre Texans team. they lost.
I'm not going to get into a Mark vs Orton debate because to me they're both not that good but Mark had a team that was 8-5 and then went 0-3 in 2011...
absolutely, he deserves his share of the blame for that and if he didn't have '09/'10 on his resume he'd get bashed much more. Orton doesn't have a playoff game on his resume so missing out for him was much worse.
The "winner" Sanchez went into Tennessee on Monday night football in 2012 with the playoffs on the line and fumbled and intercepted that away. With a chance to take the lead in the division on Sunday night in 2011 he intercepted it away. 8-5 and in control of our playoff destiny, we lose 3 straight. So basically two can play this game. I'm not saying Orton is great, but I think he'd be an upgrade at the backup QB position and a better QB to push Geno than Mark. And if Sanchez is better what makes him better than Orton?
w/ the worst healthy skill talent in the league. did he have Brandon Marshall, Eddie Royal and company? the difference is Mark has success to fall back on. he gets blame for 2011(not as much for 2012) but he had success, orton has never played in a postseason game let alone won one. did you see the big INT to end Dallas' season this year? w/ more talent than mark ever had to work with.
I think he wants to stay here with Rex but Idzik wont allow that to happen because if Sanchez and Geno are the options for Rex, Rex will choose Sanchez which would be the best move for Rex, but not the direction Idzik wants. Where Sanchez lands depends on the draft. If Houston takes Clowney, Sanchez could land there. Obrien has watched Sanchez in a ton of games including the playoff loss the Patriots had. Does Cleveland draft a QB? sure sounding like it. The Rams are another option, Schotty reunion? Those seem to be the obvious teams but if you think outside the box I can come up with other landing spots: Buccaneers - Lovie Smith might not be ready to name Glennon the starter, he has seen Sanchez play (Sanchez had one of his better games against the Bears in 2010, both squads ended up in the championship game) Minnesota - Mike Zimmer is a conservative coach, he has A.P, will build the defense, and the Vikings are in a position in the draft where they might might miss out on a top QB Cowboys - Bill Callahan has coached Sanchez, Orton is not a lock to return, I think this might be where he lands but im not sure Sanchez would be willing to go in as a backup.
Are you telling the most highly paid backup in the league is an option for the Jets? Also Orton is a ten year vet he is what he is Sanchez's story is not fully told yet.
Orton?...puhlease. Junc loves to forget just how many losses can be directly laid at Sanchez's feet. Junc also forgets that shitty fans are the result of shitty teams....not the other way around. The NY Jets had a real opportunity to become a premier franchise after 2010...instead they pissed it away with shitty coaching, shitty personnel moves and shitty play. No wonder the Jets have shitty fans as well...
