Never snowed here Jay. All ice and so far, 85K without power. PA Tpke closed between Gettysburg and Harrisburg due to several fatals. My first job today is in Harrisburg so I will be calling ahead and waiting until lunchtime to give PennDot time to do what they need to do.
just read all the posts...wow Cman..sad story out here...very sad. That is a HEAVY SNOW...I will leave it at that.
I got lucky Jay. Only lost 1 Evergreen that missed my sun room. I have 2 neighbors that weren't so lucky as both lost large trees into their properties. Both trees just missed their frontage. Still raining here and very icy. Thankfully, all my appointments today cancelled.
Northern Bergen County about 8 inches here with 2 inches of ice on top and now just some very light sleet/freezing rain. _
So what's the latest on this Sunday storm, 3 people today told me they heard we're getting 30 inches lol
When you say the ice is starting to fall do you mean the ice is starting to fall off trees and lines etc or that icy rain/sleet is starting to come down? It's kind of weird here, the precipitation has pretty much stopped--the sleety freezing rain, but now it's just further solidifying on top of the ice crust that was already on top of the snow. _
My 36 year old, 270 LBS body said enough. I asked help from neighbor's 17 year old son and offered him money so he shovels my driveway.
Wow even with the snow blower that was tough,,,,very heavy and wet,,not to mention ice on top,,,,I am shot. Ok Jay local guys are now saying Sunday won't be that bad if at all,,,,wife also heard. Them say it goes out to sea,,,,so do they blow this one ? Are the local guys clueless as usual ? Ps bravo on calling this mess today long before the locals,,,take a bow
frezzing rain,sleet. no trees or lines down. should be ok this far north. i think it is going to turn back to all snow again we are sitting at about 14" now
well I just went outside and laid on my back , naked in the snow with an erection. Id say we have AT LEAST 13 inches out there
The models did JD..you are correct. I did say that but I also said the models have done that with many storms this winter only to bring it back several days before. Now as of today, no models are showing a huge storm..but today the Canadian model really tried to for overnight Saturday/ Sunday. Im still not kicking this one to the curb yet. Right now most models have something..but most of the heavy part out to sea. Some have it coming in 2 parts. 2 inches Saturday...2 Sunday. I still think they will not get it until tonight. If the models do not have the storm by Thursday night...its over I think. There are too many weird signals being sent out to say its over. Still think its at least 50/50 Now these people out there saying they heard 30 inches...that was thing that went viral through social media and its still alive because my mom asked me about "the biggest storm in decades" yesterday...lol. Lets see if any models begin to trend back tonight..have a feeling at least 1 does..maybe more.
