peyton played like complete shit , thomas only had a good stat game every play was a screen for him which racked up receptions other than that they did shit decker is still a great player that would help the jets and geno a lot
Well comparing Decker to Thomas is just foolish. Everyone knows Decker isnt as good as Thomas. Also, From what I saw, Decker lined up mostly on the right side where Sherman covers and Denver admitted before the game they werent going to throw to anyone who was covered by Sherman- that includes Thomas. I wouldnt say he was exposed either. The whole team was exposed. You take away Thomas' 5-8 screen passes and he had an average game by his standards. How many people were blanketed by Sherman all year and that pass defense? Hardly a litmus test for Decker.
hes really the best player were going to be able to get... we dont need another wr to get 500-600 yards every year.. we havnt had a 1000 yd wr since 2007
The point was that Thomas gained separation and a lot of his catches weren't screens. Even despite what was going on he found a way to be effective. Even Michael Crabtree had an effective game while being guarded by Sherman. The bottomline is that Decker is a product of Peyton and he's nowhere near being a true number 1 receiver. We don't need anymore 3rd receivers masquerading as a number 1 receiver.
the guy had 600 yard and 8 tds with kyle orton and tim freakin tebow throwing him the ball.. you dont get 170 catches and 2000 yards over 2 years by mistake also look at peire garcon..he turned out to be pretty good
Holmes had 600+ yards getting balls thrown to him by Mark Sanchez. I bet Holmes is a 1000 yard receiver with Peyton. Yet folks here can't wait to get rid of Holmes. What makes Decker a number 1 receiver?
Eric Decker was good with Tebow throwing to him....wouldn't say he is a product of Peyton, just a solid player---not great.
I remember Thomas playing well with Tebow. Decker was so-so, he exploded when they got Peyton. I don't care what anyone says we don't need anymore 3rd/4th options playing as number 1 receivers. Seriously when was the last time we had a legit number 1? Keyshawn?
Decker is not a #1 WR - that is insane to even think such a thing. I would put him around the same class as Holmes. Actually he's better then Holmes absolutely - much better attitude.
What makes him better? Perception is a funny thing. Had Holmes been playing with Peyton these last 2 years while Decker is a Jet. God probably think Holmes was better.
Eric Decker is far more physical and can play against more physical corners - that is where Holmes falls short. I consider Decker and Holmes even when it comes to running routes. I don't think Holmes or Decker are #1 wide receivers, but I think Decker could hold his own more against top corners then Holmes. Decker had Tebow throwing to him, and not once did Decker complain. Holmes has complained time and time again about not getting the ball. Decker has a better attitude.
Decker is not worth the money he will command and, all things being equal, he will go to a team that has a good passing offense. That means the Jets are going to have to overpay to get him, which is just a stupid thing to do. Pass.
You said Holmes always complained. So I'm asking outside of the end of 2011 when did Holmes complain?
For some reason, I thought you were talking about Decker. It's not just the Dolphins game regarding Holmes - do we really have to go back and review all the times Jet fans have hated Holmes? How many times, he has dropped wide open passes? Taunting when the team was down 2 or 3 scores after he gets a TD? Throwing the football to the defender after being injured? Or are you on the "extend Holmes" bandwagon with Barcs? Decker gives it all every snap, Holmes has half stepped it for 2 seasons now.
I agree that there's no comparing Thomas and Decker, but I do believe that Decker was exposed. Decker has a size advantage on the Seattle DBs. In spite of that, he was not able to gain enough separation where Peyton felt comfortable throwing the ball to him. Now I agree that Peyton didn't play well. His accuracy was off and he was often pressured heavily. I think their OC had a pretty lousy game plan, and it didn't seem that the Broncos were prepared at all to face the Seahawks. That said, I want offensive play makers who come up big in big games. Who find a way of getting involved and making a contribution in spite of how well the D is playing, of how their QB is playing or what the game plan was like. The Broncos had opportunities, just not enough players stepped up and produced. It looked to me that Seattle clearly wanted it more. A few of Denver's players (Trevathan and Shaun Phillips) stepped up and made plays, but most of their players simply didn't show up. Whatever interest I had in their FA OG Beadles is pretty much gone as is any interest in Decker. Chump Bailey should retire. He was awful and beaten like a drum all night, as were the rest of Denver's DBs. I'm seriously wondering how Denver put up all the points they did this season. Their OL looked like crap, Peyton looked old, and with the exception of D. Thomas and Welker, none of their other offensive players bothered to show up, or they just gave up after getting behind early. I saw no fire, no confidence in that team whatsoever.
Decker is known to drop passes even wide open ones too. I won't defend him taunting despite being down 2 or 3 scores. The play in which he gave the ball to the defender was blown by the refs. However none of that is hardly enough to really hate the guy. I do think its time to move on from Holmes because we need to upgrade the receiver position with younger talent.
You totally dodge the guys question. When did he complain publicly? He didn't ask why fans hate him, he asked when did he complain which was a primary argument against keeping him. He also didn't say "LETS EXTEND HIM" so throwing that in his face to cover your own poor preparation for an argument is stupid.
