Two teams likely to have some level of interest in Eagles free-agent-to-be QB Michael Vick: Buccaneers and Jets.

idk how i feel about this honestly

Makes sense with MM. Wouldn't be upset if they brought him in for cheap. I don't think he can stay healthy anymore, he still takes risks when running the ball even though he can slide and has opportunities to slide and avoid contact.

I like it, he's exactly the kind of veteran QB we need. A mentor for Geno and a guy that understands his role and can step in and play in case Geno sucks or gets hurt.

I think it is fine. Better him than that pick 6 choker Schaub. Vick would come in strictly as a back up, so staying healthy is not as much of an issue. It's time people got over the dog thing. The man more than paid his dues for that.

As long as the Jets keep Vick and what he represents firmly in mind I have no problem with them getting him for the depth chart. He's injury-prone, ancient (34 next year), and he's never played well enough over anything approaching a full season for a team to run the offense through him and make a serious run at a championship.

As depth and competition he would certainly be a good addition to the roster but he's not going to be the answer unless the Jets catch one in a hundred lightning in a bottle.

There is no free agent QB available that is remotely likely to be the "answer."

Your title is misleading. It makes it sound like the Jets have stated an interest in Vick, and based on Schefter's comment that you posted, that isn't the case at all. He just says that they're likely to be interested. BIG difference.

Personally, I hope they stay away from the scumbag.

Why because he killed dogs? He served his time already. Vick would be a good addition to this team.

adam schefter tweeted this because he definitely heard that the jets and buccaneers have interest. why else would he tweet it?

also vick is a good guy now, he seems like a team player. from a football standpoint im definitely on board

That's true but that still doesn't lessen the likely disaster created by signing Vick to be the answer and then having him drop out unexpectedly due to age, injury or performance issues next season.

There are some things you can bank on in this regard. Michael Vick will not play a full season without getting hurt or benched or both and he's going to be 34 next year which makes the likelihood of both more likely.

I have no problem with signing him to be part of the solution but I also have very little doubt that's the most the Jets will get out of him: a partial solution.

When healthy he's about 1200x better than Geno.

Hell NO! This is an awful idea.
What we need is a solid veteran BACKUP ... A guy who knows his role, but can come in and rescue a game or give us a spot start when needed. We don't need a guy like Vick who still sees himself as a starting QB and will never be happy in a backup role ... Not to mention the guy is also a turnover machine.

Please Idzik ... Use your head and don't throw away good money on an over the hill Michael Vick.

If Vick could stay healthy he'd be a solid starter right now. I'm sure if he's brought in its for a mentor to Geno who could also play if needed. I doubt he'd be brought in to start. Better than having a back up that can't play.

Because he's giving his opinion. Schefter looked at some depth charts and decides who he thinks need QBs. No "sources" or actual news reporting. There's a big difference between Jets Have Interest (fact being reported, thread title), and Jets likely to have interest (actual tweet, some guy's opinion).

    That's how they getcha.

We should just let Sheldon Richardson play QB.

Who would you suggest? You think Matt Schaub doesn't see himself as a starting QB? Maybe a Josh McCown type, but any QB who comes here and sees what Geno did last year will think he can start and be an upgrade. As long as they are supportive and team players if they don't start, I'd like the best affordable QB possible.

Vick will obviously draw more headlines, and when Geno struggles and the inevitable QB controversy begins, Vick may be a bigger media distraction. But if we sign any QB better than Matt Simms, there will be a faction of people that will want him to start if Geno struggles.

Vick could help teach Geno a thing or 2 about scrambling. I don't see his value much beyond that. Bring him in as a backup and I'm happy.
