Hmm key plays I guess: Earl Thomas not getting DPI on a Broncos WR. Seattle catching the PM floater when Avril hit him Besdies that, SEA just methodically picked them apart, but I felt like DEN was still in the game then and those two were killer. Wow Denver diving deep into their playbook for those two points
Demaryius with a nice statline, although meaningless, 12 catches(SB record) and a TD through three quarters.
Okay, that's not greatest choke job in sports history though. That happens when the whole TEAM is outright amazing, are considered huge favorites, and doesn't show up. This is just the offense not showing up. We all knew SEA was the better team, we just didn't know how much better
Yeah and it debunks this myth that you need an "elite" qb to win in this league. All you need is a competent QB that can raise his level for a couple postseason games. Football is a team game, people need to stop thinking that having an elite QB is the ultimatum between being successful or not.
It's not going to stop as long as we equate wins and losses to QB. At least this year the best team in the NFL won the SB unlike probably since the early 2000s
Ive been saying that forever. Even when the Pats were winning this is exactly how they were built. No superstars, just above average across the board.
Some of us did. But take a look at the poll on the top of this thread, a lot of people were dazzled by the QB and offense and neglected it was a team game.
Whoa, don't discourage those Pats teams. They were above average everywhere and they all showed up in the playoffs. When one unit struggled, the other could pick them up. Not just average. When their team started to resemble the other pass happy teams, they haven't won a SB. Not a coincidence to me. QB reliant teams have had success in the playoffs and regular season, but they have won SB when the rest of the team chips in. The D and run game for NO and ST even won them that SB run. Aaron Rodgers and GB won a SB when the defense and run game showed up. The team went ultra pass happy, Aaron Rodgers won a MVP, they lost in the playoffs
Most of those people probably failed to look outside of the QB position when they made their picks. They probably said "Russel or Peyton? E-Z, Peyton...."
That's why they are elite. Flacco, Matt Ryan, Eli Manning, Big Ben can't do that. Brees, Rodfers, Brady, and Peyton have been able to. You know, that might be the best definition of elite QB. Being able to mask the problems of the team and the team making the playoffs
