I was using an accountant who was retired from IRS for my tax returns but her health condition got worse and she stopped her services.

I need to either find another accountant or use one of the tax prep programs. I was already tired of paying a fee for tax returns so I will rely on programs at this point.

Looks like Turbo Tax is for folks who aren't knowledgeable so I am leaning towards that but some reviews on the net praise TaxACT.

    Any suggestions?

I used to use TaxACT which was great like 5 years ago because it allowed you to fill things out all at once on a form type model. But now TurboTAX is really the best. It carefully goes through each item. I suggest using that unless you have quite a lot of complex things to report, like investments and things.

    Thanks Poeman

No I don't have any complex things. My W2, my wife's W2 kids aftercare bill.

As simple as it gets. If a few other folks suggest Turbo Tax, I will go with them.

I suggest Turbo Tax. It's pretty easy to use. Goes over tons of different exemptions to try to score you more money.

can't go wrong with turbo tax. been using it for years, from simple times of standard deduction to more complicated years with property sales and kids and such.
