We've all heard how Jets and Seattle are similar in having a strong defense, strong running game, but avg at best passing game. So far, for the Jets at least, that hasn't been enough. But can this combination be the future of the NFL? Or will teams without a dominant pocket passer always come up short?
Broncos beating the best defense in the NFL would kind of be the end of this type of team going forward (ie, Jets, Seattle). A Bronco's win would put us back to square one, but maybe justifiably?
Honestly dont think it really matters. The only thing that matters is that Seattle has gotten this far using their type of style and should have sustained success. If the game tomorrow is played 10 times, the results will be different each game. Even if they lose, their style has still been proven effective.
Why would it end that type of team? Reaching the divisional playoffs, then the SB in back to back years would cause everyone to say "let's scrap, it clearly doesn't work"? And the 49ers who made 3 championship games in a row with are now going to give up on it? It has no impact on the Jets really.
I don't think it matters for the Jets. Yes, Rex's vision is to play like the Hawks but them not winning doesn't mean their formula won't get them to the holly land. In the end, they are playing against the best offense statistically for the last 48 years. Not every year, a team like Seattle will play a team like Broncos.

Broncos winning SB proves NOTHING. There are more than handful ways to skin a cat - Ray Lewis won the big one with Trent Fucking Dilfer guiding the offense for him.
It may or may not, but if Manning wins that will give a boost to the Rex must go shit on TGG. There are really only two ways to build a team....around a Franchise QB -or- around a dominating defense with a good running game. The Jets are the 2nd type. Same with Seattle. So yes, it would be nice to see Seattle win.
No comparison to Seattle. Seattle is +20 turnovers, something the Jets have not achieved in recent times. Their QB isn't a 4,000 yard man, but he's not a turnover machine either. His career low in TD's is 26 in a season and his career high in interceptions is 10. He's an efficient passer with a 63.6% completion percentage. The only thing Jet like in recent times has been his propensity to fumble, averaging 8 a season. The Seahawks + 20 give/take ratio is better than the Jets best of the past 5 years of +9, the big part of that difference is the Jets offense turns the ball over far too often. In 4 of the last 5 seasons the jets haven't been better than +1 or +2 with several seasons in the negative ground. The Moral of the story? If your going to play a run based defense strong team you can not turn the ball over, there is little room for error.
Means nothing for the Jets. Also Russell Wilson is a dynamic player in his own right and there's zero comparison to Jets QB situation.
Denver is probably the greatest offensive team of all time. I don't think losing to them means the end of a team styled after the Seahawks.
Wait are people seriously trying to suggest that the winner of this game will determine how teams will look to build there teams in the NFL? I mean, come on, it comes down to personell. If you are paying your QB 20 million + you expect to be an offensive team. If you are paying your QB less than a million like the Seahawks, you would expect the defense to be much better.
As a Jet fan it's Broncos hands down. Peyton cements his lead over Brady as the GOAT (well, after Montana). Welker gets a ring and a big FU to Bellichick and Kraft. Carroll takes his basketball and goes home crying. Yeah, a Broncos win makes Jet fans happy. _
What does the hypothetical people on this website mad at Rex because Denver wins a SB mean to the Jets, nothing If the Seahawks lose as you suggest, they would be the 2nd best team. The 3rd/4th best team would be SF. The 5th/6th best team would be CAR. All defensive teams, but if Seattle loses they'll all copycat Denver by signing an aging MVP QB coming off a surgery being released by his lifelong team? :lol:
