Okc up 5 at half. Their bench is hitting some big shots. Fisher w 3 3s and I think lamb has a few too
KD!!!!!! Miami down by 23 with 8:45 left. Since OKC took out Perkins they are out scoring Miami 96-60
Miami had all players available, as well. OKC is without Westbrook and Perkins (Perkins got injured during the game tonight. Leg issue. He only played 5 minutes).
Where did you hear Perkins was injured? I thought they just took him out and saw it was working without him?
OKC was down 11 in the 2nd quarter. They dominated the rest of the second (34-18) and then dominated the third (36-25).
David Stern's last day as NBA commish. Overall, he was my favorite commish in the 4 main sports. Adam Silver takes over tomorrow.
Say what you want about Stern, he changed the NBA a ton. I never appreciated him that much until I saw just how much has changed since he became the commissioner, its insane.
Stern helped globalize the game. If not for Stern, it's a strong possibility that we don't have the luxury to see players like Arvydas Sabonis, Dirk Nowitzki, and many other great basketball players. I would say he was prob the best Commish in pro sports. He wasn't perfect, but who really is?
Yeah he had his struggles like all commishes, but I think he left the NBA in a good place. KD and the Thunder just demolishing the Nets in the first half. Up by almost 30 after 1 half.
http://grantland.com/features/the-super-bag/ (Since we’re here, congratulations to Stern for 30 unforgettably great years with the National Basketball Association. So what if those 30 years were from 1976 through 2006 — starting when he facilitated the NBA-ABA merger as a hard-driving league attorney in 1976, took over as deputy commissioner, created the salary cap and came up with a hardcore drug policy even before he actually took office — and not the actual 30 years when he ran the NBA? That 1976-2006 stretch was spectacular. If it’s OK with you, I am saving my extended thoughts for another time.) .... Now, throw in the Seattle component — an unquestionably tortured sports city that hasn’t won a title since 1979, suffered through some amazing so-close-and-yet-so-far Mariners seasons, got blatantly screwed by the refs in Super Bowl XL, had the Sonics stolen away from them while David Stern did everything short of helping Clay Bennett purchase the getaway car (again, congrats on 30 great years, David — the ones from 1976 to 2006), and sunk so low that they’ve spent the past few years trying to convince themselves that the MLS can be anything bigger than “Triple-A baseball with soccer players.” Seattle needs this. For that and a variety of other reasons, I’m riding with the 206 on Sunday.
Bulls 28.2% FG tonight, 64.7% FT. Noah ejected. 99-70 loss to Sacramento. Their previous visit to Sacramento, they lost 121-79 (last season).
Charlotte swept the Warriors this season. Tonight they beat them by 16 at Oracle. GS shot 31.5%. David Lee was 3/13. Draymond Green 0/6, Speights 1/7 (his only make was a 40 foot heave to end the third when they inbounded with 1 second left).
Derek Fisher with a terrible contested 3 at the end of the third for OKC. Dieng got the uncontested putback. The only problem is that Gorgui Dieng plays for the Timberwolves.
Popovich giving TNT the finger for the 10th time or so. He's sitting Parker, Duncan, and Diaw, to go with Ginobili (who has missed the last few games). It makes me wonder why TNT even wants the Spurs considering the Spurs almost always sit their players when they're on TNT. edit: forgot Kawhi Leonard, but he's legitimately injured, like Ginobili.
Lakers started last night with 8 players and ended with only 4 eligible guys, leading to the enforcement of a rare NBA rule. http://msn.foxsports.com/nba/story/...e-fouls-out-still-plays-beat-cavaliers-020614
Shaq on the halftime show talking about how he dislikes lazy players  he said he prefers players like Joakim Noah to "guys at this table", obviously referring to Kenny Smith and Charles Barkley It's almost as if Shaq thinks he wasn't lazy during his career. Laziest diva in the NBA. Repeatedly showed up out of shape, often took games off, didn't play full seasons because he didn't feel like it, etc.
Good call on Shaq. He left so many MVPs and historical seasons on the table by being lazy. The Lakers thing was hilarious. Steve Nash actually suited up too before the Lakers realized they didn't need him. The rook/soph game is set, Chris Webber and Charles Barkley chose the teams. Damian Lillard is participating in all 5 AS activities. The Dunk contest has new rules. It's East vs West with a 90 second freestyle round for both teams. Meaning, yes 90 seconds of dunks from 3 people. The winner of that round by judging, gets to choose if next round if they can go 1st or 2nd. The next round is first to 3, dunk off. Each person has to participate, but if you lose, you are eliminated. For example the East has A,B,C and the West X,Y,Z. IF the East won the freestyle and chose to go second then it could be something like West sends X up, East sends B. B wins, X is eliminated, East is up 1-0. etc etc. Anthony Davis was chosen to replace Kobe, great move by the NBA. Davis deserves to be in, having an outstanding year. Nick Young is out for 2 weeks. But Farmar and Nash are back for the Lakers.
They talked a little about the new All Star stuff last night. How Curry's team looks strong for Shooting Stars, how you have conferences with the dunk competition, etc. Lilliard a surprising choice for the dunk contest. As for Shaq, I'm pretty sure I remember him postponing a surgery until right before the season started, and then telling the media "I got hurt on company time, I'll recover on company time." Yeah like the team pays you tens of millions just for you to play a few months. They pay you for the full year, which is why you're supposed to show up in shape, not use the offseason to party and get fat and then "play your way into shape." Paul Pierce and Dirk did the same thing the shortened season. Showed up well out of shape and missed time because of it. Felton also notably showed up fat for a season. Shaq was and is a huge joke, and he has no business criticizing anyone else for being lazy. One of the reasons he couldn't get along with Kobe was because Kobe wanted to win and wanted everyone to work hard. Shaq had no interest in that.
