I've met Marty, he was the coach at CBA when I was in high school. He is a good guy. About 10 years ago I met John Thompson at a St. Johns game. I asked him "if he relishes the hate Syracuse has for him" He replied by asking Lou Carnasecca "How did the SU fan get in here?" We laughed. That was the thing about Thompson he seemed to love the fact that we hated him so much.
My son is sending me pics from the Carrier Dome, said the lower student section was filled at 10:30 this am for a 6:30 game. This is going to be a great spectacle. _
Wow great first half. I can't believe how good Duke is, they are much better than 17. Very athletic, GREAT 3 point shooters and a lot longer than I thought. They've been great on the offensive glass. I do not feel great right now. :sad: _
Just give the ball to Fair and let him drive every possession. Duke is a top 5 team. Two best teams in the ACC right here. _
Oh my, I feel lucky to come out with the win. I'm glad they didn't call the intentional foul on Duke right there, that would have been ticky tack. The ACC is toughening up! Total respect for Duke, they are a force. Great team with incredible 3 point shooting and some incredible athletes. Massive on the offensive glass. Nice start to the rivalry. _
If you breathed on a player in that game it was a foul. You have to be consistent with the calls. Hood clearly got fouled on that monster dunk attempt
Oh stop. There were calls and non-calls both ways. That foul on Fair at the end was intentional but I'm glad they didn't call it. Let them play. _
The replay looked pretty clean! Live, I could see where live it looked that way. but the slowmo looked like a block. Wow, what a game! That game will help SU going forward. Fair flat out played great. Nice chess match between two all time coaches. JB had them attack the inside and Coach K team played to their strength and shot 3's.
Btw I thought Coach K coached a masterful game given the guys that were in foul trouble. We should have run away with the game in OT but he kept them right there in it. Duke is going to be a force in the tourney. _
