No, he will not be. He had a great run in New York though, winning the most playoff games of any Jets QB in franchise history. Things went sour fast though, and starting fresh on a new team will be great for Mark. He will make some noise in 2014.

I would say no w/ a normal GM but the way Idzik handled Tebow last year tells me he may hold out as long as he can.

    Follow you?

The humane thing to do would be to show up ahead of you and prepare them for the onslaught...

where did I say mishandle? he held onto him hoping to trade him when obviously no one was going to give us anything for him.

Quickly? Free agency began march 12th, we released him April 29th.

Unlike Tebow theres money owed after certain point, he'll be gone before I believe the 25th.

I wouldn't be surprised if he was put on the trading block, just to make SURE we can't get anything for him. I doubt the jets will, but hey theres no reason NOT to try.

Maybe not; some team may try to get the "Early Bird Special."

I will say, in Tannenbaum's defense, Sanchez's deal is pretty good if the team would have continued winning. The Ravens have to pay Flacco $20 million a year and he is no better than Sanchez. Unfortunately for Tannenbaum, he did not build the offense at all, some of his other pick-ups got old over night, and the roster became crap. He had to go. Sanchez's deal is beyond reasonable if 2012 did not happen. Unfortunately, it did, and now the deal looks awful to many.

Idzik is very unpredictable . He was on a staff that signed Matt Flynn for over 25 million and decided to start their 3rd round pick. I say he cuts ties . Rex is enough to handle already.

    Neither deal made sense.

I hope Sanchez sent Tannenbaum a nice handwritten thank you note.

Has there been any word on Sancho's rehab?

If every team kept on winning, then every GM would never have a bad deal.

There was no reason to extend Sanchez except on the HOPE of Sanchez of improving. It was a mistake. Remember, the Ravens didn't pay Flacco until after 5 seasons of Flacco. Matt Ryan wasn't extended until after 5 years in the league. Stafford was extended 4 years into his career.

I believe these are all correct, please let me know if I missed an extension before the big paydays for each of the above QBs. But basically it was a mistake, Sanchez was signed onto for 5 years. You could have let him play 2012 out and then had an extension after 4 years with still the 5th year on the contract.

The Ravens signed Flacco to 5 years, he helped BAL win a SB in his 5th year, hit FA, and the Ravens paid him.

The Falcons signed Ryan to 6 years, they extended him after 5 years instead of hitting potentially hitting FA or getting franchised after the 6th year.

The Jets signed Sanchez to 5 years, they extended him after 3 years.

The Lions signed Stafford to 6 years, they extended him after 4 years. He is the closest to Sanchez in the scenario that he had 2 years left and the Lions extended him 3.

It was a gamble, if he played well he would have been a bargain. Unfortunately we didn't surround him w/ talent and set him up to fail.

Very good post. The Sanchez extension was unnecessary and stupid. That's reason #1 why Mike Tannenbaum doesn't have an office at Florham Park anymore.

Absolutely. THis is not complicated. That was the single biggest reason Tanny got fired.

Only a Sanchez Fan would say Flacco is no better than MS. Every other fan of the NFL would disagree.

can't even the use the playoff road victories thing there... He's a far better talent than Sanchez. Worth the contract? not sure any player is, but he is nowhere close to sanchez.

I know everything you guys posted and I agree with everyone. It definitely did not work out. Mark was also set up to fail in many ways. You could see it a mile away. My point was I can see where Tannenbaum was coming from with the deal, but it just flopped big time.
