Saw it last night, very good film and pretty true to the book. They gussied up the ending a bit, but other than that seems to follow to story very closely.

They made a serious film, no Marky Mark snarkiness, he played it straight. He was very good and actually all 4 guys were spot on. Good to see Marcus Lutrell in a bunch of cameos.

They really couldn't go into the SEAL training as I depth as in the book, but they did hit the high points.

I recommend it if you like war movies. Extremely violent and bloody, a bunch of head shots and shrapnel as one would expect.

Saw it in RPX, the new Regal Cinemas wide screen super high def format, I highly recommend you see in one of the big formats- it's a big big screen movie.

I read the book a few years ago, so I needed to see this. I'd say it was true to the book until it comes to the story of Marcus's rescue. But I understand how the story of the fight needed to be the focus in the movie.

Exactly. I think even as respectfully as Berg wanted to treat the story he still couldn't resist putting in a Hollywood shoot em up things all getting blowed up ending.

Still pretty damn good and compelling.

Definitely one of the best war movies I've seen in quite some time. Outstanding.

read the book several times, along with Seal of Honor and even the nonsensical Victory Point. dying to see the movie but I have a 5 week old and turns out my wife wants to see it as well, so I can't sneak out for a showing on my own.

Is it a movie where I'd get more out of it if I read the book first?

I'd say see the movie first. if you find it compelling enough t want to know a little more detail and accuracy, then read the book.

was able to get a hold of an awards screener DVD. very good movie, but I would certainly recommend reading the book. there is just so much more to the story that you can't fit in a movie that is every much as compelling as what is in the film.
