Because we were far better team then then in the later years even though in the end it makes no difference since they lost right before you were around & after you were around. No matter how hard you attempt it you cannot change HISTORY
That first half was so depressing, it's like that entire New England game was our Super Bowl. We couldn't do a damn thing. The Stealers beat us up and down the field. We finally showed up in the second half but it was too little too late. Sigh.
seeing him go to pick it up rather than fall on it did not make me feel comfortable but luckily he got it. That is when the game was basically officially over. When I felt 100% confident NE wasn't coming back.
^^ That stupid Colts game. At the time it was "oh well, we got a rookie QB and a strong team, let's get back here" Watching the highlights, I still remember when we forced the fumble on Addai, and then only settled for the FG. Then the Colts come and barely make that first pass then score a TD, it felt like we were losing even though we were up 4.
The drive to end the 1st half killed us, would have felt much better going in up 17-6 than up 17-13. we were young, we did get back and the next title game loss was even more painful.
Yep, the ending next year was 100 times more painful because it felt like us shooting ourselves in the foot than a team beating us. Funny enough, the Jets lost 6 games that year and I think 5 of them you could say we just played stupid and could have won with an average day from every unit. The wins were fun, but the losses were excruciating.
Why must you torture me with these memories? It was great to be at that position at that time, but to lose those games? Really hurt.
That was the one and only night i had ever gotten sick from drinking. I didnt remember much after the first half. Sooooo much fun. :gpc:
