Yeah, on this site, the WRs are overvalued and don't drop much at all. I have been able to pick up Louisville's DeVante Parker in the 5th and 6th rounds, which I think is a steal.

I don't think that double-dipping at TE is necessarily a bad thing. Winslow probably won't be back. Cumby probably will, but not definitely. Who knows with Sudfeld? Hopefully, the Jets can sign Pitta in FA. I think they could stand to carry 4 TEs, or at least have better prospects and competition for the 3 spots they carry. Getting Duncan that low would be a steal.

In my most recent draft (below), I also double-dipped. I like Ebron better than Amaro, but Duncan better than Pedersen. My Antonio Andrews pick was strictly a value pick as was the Jeremy Hill pick. Previously, I'd always gotten an A for taking Andrews that low, but because I'd taken Hill, then knocked me down. Similarly, I thought Pedersen was the best prospect left in the 7th round, but they obviously don't like him or graded him down because I had taken Ebron. At that spot however, ALL of the best value picks were either TE, CB, WR, RB, or C. I was gonna wind up double-dipping somewhere, unless I took a C, and just didn't know anything about the Cs who were left since that isn't a real need yet with the Jets.

Round 1 Pick 18: Eric Ebron, TE, North Carolina (A)
Round 2 Pick 22 (PHI): Brandin Cooks, WR, Oregon State (A)
Round 3 Pick 5: Kyle Van Noy, OLB, Brigham Young (A)
Round 3 Pick 16: Craig Loston, SS, LSU (A)
Round 3 Pick 23 (K.C.): Jimmy Garoppolo, QB, Eastern Illinois (A)
Round 4 Pick 15: Pierre Desir, CB, Lindenwood (A)
Round 4 Pick 25 (S.D.): Jeremy Hill, RB, LSU (A)
Round 5 Pick 17 (PITT): Brandon Thomas, OG, Clemson (A)
Round 6 Pick 7 (CHI): Demarcus Lawrence, DE, Boise State (B)
Round 6 Pick 15 (CHI): J.C. Copeland, FB, LSU (A)
Round 6 Pick 25 (S.D.): Antonio Andrews, RB, Western Kentucky (C+)
Round 7 Pick 15 (PITT): Kirby Van Der Kamp, P, Iowa State (A)
Round 7 Pick 18: Jacob Pedersen, TE, Wisconsin (C-)

Thanks, I wanted to make the focus on offense and to be fair I traded down a few times in the first because the value at WR is a deep class and with what was on the board I could get better value by trading down if I wanted offense to be the main focus.

I had tried to trade up back in to the 2nd round to try to get Lamarcus Joyner at CB but the trade I offered was rejected and they took Joyner. What I like about Gaines is he's good at staying between the receiver and QB and gets a good number of deflections and with that with some work he should be able to convert some of those in to interceptions as he plays the ball well but seems to focus more on breaking up the pass than picking it off...which isn't wholly a bad thing.

I like Amaro because he's a receiving threat to create mismatches and open up the middle of the field. He's not much of a blocker but in fairness, if he can drag his defender with him, or make his defender play back a little in order to respect the mismatch it's about the same as a block if he can get a chip in as well. Making an opponent fear the pass and respect the pass opens up the running game. At around 30 or so he becomes good value.

Sims isn't who I wanted at RB but he was the best of what was left on the board at that pick and in fairness if a trade had been offered I would have moved down a little more for value. I missed out on K. Carey by one pick (honestly I thought he'd been drafted or I would have tried to move up a slot or two for him).

Boswell was kind of an afterthought, there wasn't anyone on the board I really liked that would give value at that point so I figured K was a need according to the game so I took a flyer.

Moncrief is a guy I really like and I think is a sleeper at the moment flying under a lot of folks radar. He's only a 4.49 guy speed wise but he has very good hands and is a very polished route runner. He's also 6'2 225 and has a fight for the ball. I think he'll shoot up the boards if his combine times are fast enough and if this draft wasn't so deep at WR he'd probably be a 2nd round consideration. Just my opinion.

I'm only going to post this one because it's a really really strange draft. I wanted to try something different so I traded myself completely out of the first round and while this has less than a 0% of EVER occurring, it's a rather fun experiment and actually wound up with a draft I'd be very happy with despite not having a first round pick.
What I should have done is a couple of trades up and I could have gotten one of the 3 FS I wanted.

Round 2 Pick 7 (JAX): Austin Seferian-Jenkins, TE, Washington (A-)
Round 2 Pick 17: Gabe Jackson, OG, Mississippi State (A-)
Round 2 Pick 21 (G.B.): Jordan Matthews, WR, Vanderbilt (A-)
Round 2 Pick 23 (CINN): Lamarcus Joyner, CB, Florida State (A-)
Round 2 Pick 32 (SEA): Ahmad Dixon, SS, Baylor (A)
    Round 3 Pick 5: Ka'Deem Carey, RB, Arizona (A)
Round 3 Pick 18 (CHI): Dee Ford, OLB, Auburn (B+)
Round 3 Pick 25 (S.D.): Joel Bitonio, OT, Nevada (B-)
Round 4 Pick 1 (HOU): Donte Moncrief, WR, Ole Miss (B+)
Round 4 Pick 14 (JAX): Jimmy Garoppolo, QB, Eastern Illinois (A)
Round 4 Pick 15: Marqueston Huff, FS, Wyoming (B+)
Round 4 Pick 17 (CHI): James Gayle, DE, Virginia Tech (C+)
Round 5 Pick 14: Josh Huff, WR, Oregon (D-)
Round 6 Pick 19: Kirby Van Der Kamp, P, Iowa State (A)
    Round 7 Pick 18: De'Anthony Thomas, RB, Oregon (B-)

    Your Future Picks:
    2015 Round 1 Pick
    2016 Round 1 Pick

I could definitely get on board with that draft too. I agree that most likely Idzik wouldn't even consider trading out of the first round in the draft. In one of my drafts Houston offered me their first pick in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th rounds. I didn't consult the draft charts to see if it was equal value or better, and it was intriguing, but I didn't do it. In another draft, NE offered their 2014 1st round pick, 2015 1st round pick, 2016 1st round pick and I think their 2014 3rd or 4th round pick for the Jets pick at #18 plus I think our 3rd round pick. I took that trade, but it was one of my least favorite drafts, and I think I got one of my lower grades on it.

I just ran one where I got Manziel, Sefarian-Jenkins, Landry, Bucannon, Fales, Telvin Smith, Huff, Archer (could go punter here too).

    Unlikely but I wouldn't complain.

Bored at work so I went a little bit different and figured I would pick a different team (Dolphins so it's pick right after us and went BPA) and see how the computer drafts for us. This is what they came in as:

    18 WR DAVANTE ADAMS
    NEW YORK JETS

    49 TE AUSTIN SEFERIAN-JENKINS
    NEW YORK JETS

    69 RB BISHOP SANKEY
    NEW YORK JETS

    80 WR JARVIS LANDRY
    NEW YORK JETS

    111 CB BASHAUD BREELAND
    NEW YORK JETS

    142 DE BRENT URBAN
    NEW YORK JETS

    179 G BRANDON LINDER
    NEW YORK JETS

    210 OLB DENICOS ALLEN
    NEW YORK JETS

For the record this was my Dolphins draft (again, just using BPA according to this site's rankings, thus the doubling up at CB, DE and RB haha):

    9 ILB C.J. MOSLEY
    ALABAMA

    50 CB JUSTIN GILBERT
    OKLAHOMA STATE

    81 RB KA’DEEM CAREY
    ARIZONA

    112 DE ED STINSON
    ALABAMA

    143 RB JAMES WHITE
    WISCONSIN

    174 DE JAMES GAYLE
    VIRGINIA TECH

    211 CB VICTOR HAMPTON
    SOUTH CAROLINA

If somehow Khalil Mack falls to us, I don't see us not taking him. I don't see that happening but he's BPA at a position that's harder to fill than the offensive skill positions.

Having someone like Mack (or Barr) rushing the passer with Wilkerson, Snacks, and Richardson taking up blockers--that's a 9'ers level front.

Round 1 Pick 18: Eric Ebron, TE, North Carolina (A)
Round 2 Pick 17: Kyle Van Noy, OLB, Brigham Young (A-)
Round 3 Pick 5: Ahmad Dixon, SS, Baylor (A)
Round 3 Pick 17 (MIA): Jimmy Garoppolo, QB, Eastern Illinois (A-)
Round 4 Pick 15: Donte Moncrief, WR, Ole Miss (A)
Round 5 Pick 2 (WASH): Jon Halapio, OG, Florida (A)
Round 5 Pick 14: Ross Cockrell, CB, Duke (A-)
    Round 6 Pick 19: J.C. Copeland, FB, LSU (A)
Round 7 Pick 18: Antonio Andrews, RB, Western Kentucky (A)

In this draft, I tried to focus on BPA yet keeping Jets needs firmly in mind. In the 3rd round, if I hadn't traded down with Miami, I could have had Dion Bailey FS instead of Garoppolo.

I'd be quite happy with this draft or insert Bailey instead of Garoppolo. While it doesn't address the offensive playmakers to the degree I'd like, it does add a couple of playmakers on offense, improves the blocking for the rushing attack in Ebron and Copeland and adds some potential depth/new starter at OG in Halapio, add some excellent QB insurance in case Geno doesn't develop, and addresses all of the needs on D if you insert Bailey instead of Garoppolo. If Van Noy, Dixon, Bailey and Cockrell develop as expected, it would definitely give the Jets one of the best Ds in the game and would give Rex some excellent toys to play with on D and maximize his worth.

I also could have taken Calvin Pryor with the #2 pick instead of Van Noy,and then taken Attoachu in the 4th round instead of Moncrief, but that would have left the Jets with no new WR prospects.

I agree on all accounts. Van Noy is supposedly moving up the ranks, and I would say the same thing about him as well. It's not very often that a LB excels at playing both the run and in pass coverage, but Van Noy does. He also would improve the pressure on opposing QBs greatly.

I know I would have a hard time bypassing either of them, even as great as the Jets needs are for playmakers. For certain, I'd take either of them over any of the TEs. If both are setting there at #18 and Evans is as well, that would really be a difficult decision for me.

I got the chance to make that trade down with Houston again today (their #1 pick in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th rounds) which really comes out in the Jets favor if one accepts the Trade Value Table that supposedly some teams use. It really hurt not having a 1st round pick, however. With the exception of the Jeffcoat pick, I basically ignored what the site said the team's needs were and didn't worry about value so much. I still selected players who were "Best Value" according to the site, but didn't worry about the grade I'd get. Jeffcoat was the one pick where I tried to guess which player available would get the highest grade. I wish I hadn't taken him and had taken a different player, but I don't remember who else was available and the site has already timed out, so the list isn't coming up. I knew I would get lower grades from the site on a number of picks, but didn't care.

I think this draft would help the team.

Round 2 Pick 1 (HOU): Odell Beckham, WR, LSU (B)
Round 2 Pick 17: Kyle Van Noy, OLB, Brigham Young (A-)
Round 3 Pick 2 (WASH): Jackson Jeffcoat, DE, Texas (B+)
Round 3 Pick 5: Ahmad Dixon, SS, Baylor (A)
Round 3 Pick 16: Troy Niklas, TE, Notre Dame (A-)
Round 4 Pick 1 (HOU): Terrence Brooks, FS, Florida State (A-)
Round 4 Pick 15: Joel Bitonio, OT, Nevada (A-)
Round 5 Pick 1 (HOU): Max Bullough, ILB, Michigan State (B-)
Round 5 Pick 2 (WASH): DeVante Parker, WR, Louisville (B-)
Round 5 Pick 14: Ross Cockrell, CB, Duke (A-)
Round 6 Pick 2 (WASH): Terrance West, RB, Towson (A)
Round 6 Pick 19: Kirby Van Der Kamp, P, Iowa State (A)
Round 7 Pick 18: Josh Huff, WR, Oregon (B)

In this draft, I tried to go primarily with Best Value according to the site, but also considering need. I guessed wrong on the Fiedorowicz pick. I took Donald simply because he would be such a steal at #17 in the 3rd round. No way he drops out of the 1st round. If the Jets added him, Rex would probably go with a 5-2 alignment with Donald, Wilk, Richardson, Big Snacks & Coples all on the DL and Davis and Harris at LB lol.

Round 1 Pick 19 (MIA): Hasean Clinton-Dix, FS, Alabama (A)
Round 2 Pick 19 (CHI): C.J. Fiedorowicz, TE, Iowa (B)
Round 3 Pick 5: Jarvis Landry, WR, LSU (A)
Round 3 Pick 16: Chris Watt, OG, Notre Dame (A)
Round 3 Pick 17 (MIA): Aaron Donald, DT, Pittsburgh (A)
Round 4 Pick 16 (MIA): Pierre Desir, CB, Lindenwood (A)
Round 4 Pick 17 (CHI): Jimmie Ward, SS, Northern Illinois (A)
Round 5 Pick 14: Terrance West, RB, Towson (A-)
Round 5 Pick 16 (CHI): Prince Shembo, OLB, Notre Dame (A)
Round 6 Pick 14 (MIA): Kirby Van Der Kamp, P, Iowa State (A)
    Round 6 Pick 19: J.C. Copeland, FB, LSU (A)
    Round 7 Pick 18: Jeff Budzien, K, Northwestern (A)

    How does this look?

Round 1 Pick 22 (PHI): Jace Amaro, TE, Texas Tech (B)
Round 2 Pick 20 (ARI): Kelvin Benjamin, WR, Florida State (A)
Round 2 Pick 25 (S.D.): Anthony Steen, OG, Alabama (A-)
Round 3 Pick 5: Ahmad Dixon, SS, Baylor (A)
Round 3 Pick 16: Adrian Hubbard, OLB, Alabama (A)
Round 3 Pick 17 (MIA): Davante Adams, WR, Fresno State (A)
Round 3 Pick 20 (ARI): Ka'Deem Carey, RB, Arizona (A)
Round 3 Pick 25 (S.D.): Kenny Ladler, FS, Vanderbilt (A-)
    Round 4 Pick 15: A.J. McCarron, QB, Alabama (A)
Round 4 Pick 16 (MIA): Jeremiah Attaochu, OLB, Georgia Tech (B+)
Round 5 Pick 14: Jaylen Watkins, CB, Florida (A)
    Round 6 Pick 19: J.C. Copeland, FB, LSU (A)
Round 7 Pick 18: Kirby Van Der Kamp, P, Iowa State (A)

I wanted to double dip on OLBs - I wanted 2 out of Morgan Breslin/Adrian Hubbard/KVN. Obviously I failed on that front - but other than that, I think I can live with this. [Came at 4371 or so, I think.)

I like it except for McCarron. I don't think he's a good prospect. I see him more as a game manager type and career backup with limited ceiling. Also, if what I've been reading about Hubbard is true, he may not have a real position in the NFL. I need to see more video of him, but right now I'm not very high on him.

I like it. And quite frankly, I wouldn't be opposed to using the 7th on Van Der Kamp.

    Or how is this?

    Your Picks:
Round 1 Pick 18: Mike Evans, WR, Texas A&M (A)
Round 2 Pick 24 (S.F.): Gabe Jackson, OG, Mississippi State (A)
Round 3 Pick 5: Adrian Hubbard, OLB, Alabama (A)
Round 3 Pick 13 (S.F.): Ahmad Dixon, SS, Baylor (A)
Round 3 Pick 16: Paul Richardson, WR, Colorado (A-)
Round 3 Pick 18 (CHI): Telvin Smith, OLB, Florida State (A)
    Round 4 Pick 15: A.J. McCarron, QB, Alabama (A)
Round 5 Pick 14: Jeremy Hill, RB, LSU (A)
Round 6 Pick 19: DeVante Parker, WR, Louisville (A)
Round 7 Pick 18: Kirby Van Der Kamp, P, Iowa State (A)

    -------------------------------------------------------------------

By rule I almost always trade down in 1st round to pick up extra 2nd round picks, but the temptation of Mike Evans was way too high this time. This also meant I wasn't going to get one of the 3 TEs I was looking at [Amaro/ASJ/Ebron] as I intended to trade down in 2nd round and on.

I compensated that with 3 WR selections and 1 RB selection.

And on A.J. pick: I maintain that he is a good pick after 4th and on, as I have from the past. [Look up my discussion with Br4d on this.]

    18 TE ERIC EBRON UNC

49 WR KELVIN BENJAMIN FLORIDA STATE

    69 OLB DEE FORD AUBURN

    80 RB CHARLES SIMS WVU

111 QB JIMMY GAROPPOLO EASTERN ILLINOIS

    142 CB KEITH MCGILL UTAH

    179 WR JOSH HUFF OREGON

I'd be quite happy with this one. Although Huff won't be there in the 6th, & Garoppolo will most likely go a round earlier.

Would love the Evans, Jackson, Dixon, Parker & Van Der Kamp picks, and possibly the others too. Don't know enough about Hubbard. With regard to McCarron, we can just agree to disagree. :)

There are certain players that that site evidently just doesn't like. De'Anthony Thomas is one of them. I think Boston and the DE from UNC are two more.

With others, I think it's a matter of team fit or perhaps that one needs to trade down lower in a round to take them. They also don't like game players to double dip at a position, and even though they may list team needs, they obviously want you to go BPA. Of course, the problem with that is trying to figure out who they think is the highest-rated player among the "Best Value" picks.
