As someone who's been supporting giving Geno another year, this absolutely makes me nervous about him. Just as other reports have. I understand he's under a microscope, but no, it's not normal for you to not take a flight because you had a run-in with a flight attendant. We need more facts, but at the same time, where there's smoke, there's fire. Most reports that come out about Geno give me some pause, no matter how minor they may be. Reason being that he really just might be mature enough to be a team leader. I still hope we give him a chance this year to succeed, but he has to get his head on straight, no matter how minor all these things that come out about him are. The events themselves don't really bother me, but it's that he seems to have a sense of entitlement and lack of maturity that I would deem problematic to anyone looking to become a great NFL QB and leader.
Agenda sort of implies that anything we say here holds some sort of value. It doesn't. Don't let it rile you up. It's not a reason to get rid of a QB, but it should at least give you some pause. We can wait for the facts, but you are pulling the wool over your own eyes. These mini news feeds add up and just give more credence to his immaturity. Let's hope he learns how to eliminate this extra baggage when it matters and improves in 2014. This is his last chance (if they even give him that).
Sometimes the Jets behavior appears more out of the movie Animal House or North Dallas 40 than it does a professional football team.
Let's just put this into perspective: Would Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Aaron Rogers, Philip Rivers, or Tony Romo ever do this or be caught doing this? The answer is no. Elite quarterbacks don't act like this.
They may not get kicked off planes but they do leave their pregnant wives to date super models (Brady)
I took off and landed twice the other day with head phones in and watching a movie on my iphone because it was in airplane mode. you can have ear phones in and use your phone during take of and landing as long as it is in airplane mode and you aren't talking or texting. meanwhile, as we descended on my first flight the fuckstick next to me pulled out his phone to have a conversation. we have opposing views of the incident, but what seems more likely? that someone would be on their phone when they shouldn't be (which we have all likely seen), or that Virgin airlines was merely picking on Geno for no reason?
do i think the whole virgin airline corp. was picking on geno? no is it possible that 1 of their employees was having a bad day and acted irrationally to geno having his ear phones in his ears. i haven't seen anywhere saying he was on the phone having a conversation when all this happened.
The only color a big business cares about is green and for Smith to be so conceded to say it was only because he is BLACK shows he is truly the RACIST. All these people like Smith who think color is the cause of all their problems and not their own actions shows how F@#%ed this country is.
let's say Geno was in the right and the attendant over reacted, which I agree is possible even if I dont think it is the most likely scenario. what should be concerning for the Jets (and fans) is that Geno didn't have the ability or maturity to resolve it without having to be removed from the flight, even if that meant simply conceding to the attendants demands even though the attendant was wrong in their perception that he was on the phone (if that is the issue, but we can discuss it from the perspective that it was just so we have a specific conflict to address). even if the attendant was incorrect in the assumption Geno was on the phone and pulled out his ear phones, Geno is the public figure. Geno is the one whose actions are going to be held under a microscope and criticized. Geno is the one who has the most to lose in this situation. Geno is the one that has to back off before it escalates to the point he is removed from the flight. it isn't a positive reflection of Geno that he fed into the attendants bullshit and argued, even justifiably, to the extent that he was removed from the flight, rather than simply concede the matter just so he can stay on the flight. I don't think there is anything positive to say about Geno that he would rather defend himself, even against an incorrect claim, and risk making a bigger issue (which did in fact result) than simply concede for the sake of continuing on with his business as planned.
i disagree with this. if he felt he was so that disrespected, good for him for putting his plans on hold to right a wrong.or attempt to atleast. customer service has been going downhill for a while now because the people working in the field have started to realize people will take shit because they 1. need whatever it is the company offers and 2. are to busy less willing to take the time to fight about it. so if geno was willing to delay his travel plans to get off the plane and find a manger to speak too i commend him. and back to my original point, there are just as many scenarios that put the fault on the airlines employee as there are for putting geno at fault. its amazing that on a jet forumn how many people hang him for the headline and refuse to give him the benefit of the doubt.
no, that's immaturity. he didn't right the wrong. he paid for a ticket and didn't take the flight he paid for and has received subsequent negative attention. he made it worse. he cut off his nose to spite his face. who loses in this situation? Virgin or Geno? clearly Geno. he received no benefit from this situation and righted nothing. maturity understands that and reacts accordingly. Virgin, on the other hand, got paid for their seat, regardless of whether he was on the flight, and took off with business as usual. as far as your broad statement about customer service, Virgin America was rated the top airline in a recent survey in which cabin crew service was part of the criteria. you are certainly reaching on that one. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...ica-flies-the-pack-customer-satisfaction.html
One of the dumbest things I've read on the Internet. Two things you've missed in your hysteria. If your QB is acting like an asshole in public then it's ok if people "care". And I've never once advocated getting rid of Geno because of this incident and I never even commented on him allowing his junk to be splashed on the Internet. I want a smart QB leading my team and I haven't seen that yet. I'm not saying get rid of him and I'm a Jet fan who supports his team and everyone on it. I need to see something in return. I need to see him play MUCH smarter football and I need him to not act like an asshole in public. YOU may be okay with this, you seem to think because he has money and he can fly anywhere tomorrow it's ok that he got kicked off a flight and wasn't allowed back on. Money and celebrity seem to assuage all ills with you, but that's kind of what I get from your posting style. _
the patriots were rated one of the best franchises in sports, there is no way they could have a potential mass murderer on there roster right?
MY agenda? How does Geno "right this wrong"? Seriously, there's going to be no attempt to right any wrong, he just screwed up and will let it die. It's not fatal, but it just shows a lack of maturity or intelligence. My "agenda" is all about seeing the Jets finally becoming a consistent winner. I'm not sure Geno has the football IQ to be a consistent winner notwithstanding his ability to I throw a beautiful ball. I hope I'm wrong because I'm tired of watching crappy QB play in a league where QB play is the most constant factor in consistent winning. Defend Geno all you want, I have no problem with that. He's a Jet and I support him but he hasn't shown much to garner much faith. I used to be a blind homer but not so much anymore. Be smart and act like an adult. That's all I want this offseason. _
Geno's a very young guy but in his position even if the fans, etc. are screaming and yelling in his face he has to be cool and walk away from a possible confrontation. Wasn't he also mocking fans who were taunting him in Miami during the final game with the Fins. Something to that effect. Basically turning off your cell in an airplane esp when you've been asked to do it is common sense and a safety issue. Why would you not cooperate. Just like when we're checked going into MetLife. It's for our own good. If the security guy is rude about it I don't really care. I'd ignore it because I just want to see a game. As far as the racial issue. I can understand where he's coming from maybe. It's an issue with people of color. Because they are the ones who are always being isolated and picked on. It was a big issue in the recent mayoral race in NYC. But if I were him I'd have just been quiet, taken my flight and then reported it.
