Read this article today and thought it might help breakdown the top receivers in this years class. I know I have been doing all kinds of research on these guys and many others, praying for us to get a big time play maker for next years offense. Hope you guys enjoy, I know I did.

I want Evans bad. Lee would be nice but not as exciting to me. Watkins will be gone and I don't like Benjamin like most. Hoping Evans is still on the board.

Eyes dont lie. Knew Lee dropped a large amount of passes. Thats almost double what you would want it to be.

yeah, I would say this breakdown almost makes Evans look like the best receiver although Watkins stats weren't to shabby either. I was not so high Evans for some reason, but the more I read on him the more I hope he's around at 18...the one thing I really do like about Evans is his size.

I'm happy knowing that we'll get ONE of these guys.

I've mostly been high on lee thinking he's been in a similar offense and runs the best routes meaning theres an easy transition on that level. not sure how true that all is but even so Evans, a guy I've questioned in terms of route running, is starting to get to me too.

It'll be interesting to see how they all rank out when all is said and done.

When you look at Lee, you wonder why he drops as many passes as he does. He has good fundamentals when it comes to catching the football. Maybe it's more of a concentration issue. Everything he does is so natural. He tends to have lapses from time to time. Makes you wonder if that will change at the next level.

He does not have good fundamentals when catching. That is his problem.

Baker posted this in another thread-

    He's Santonio Holmes 2.0

Never seen this video before props - I thought his fundamentals were MUCH better. I thought it was more of a concentration issue but it's def so much more then that.

Wasn't a big fan of Lee to begin with.

I've spent some time looking for a highlight video of all the top guys we could maybe get, but to no avail. Thanks for posting a neat link.

  10. Hmm.. really?

In what year of college did Holmes catch 118 balls like Lee did as a Sophomore?

    http://espn.go.com/college-football/player/stats/_/id/513334/marqise-lee
How bout never. In fact he never had a college season as good as Lee did.

Holmes was nowhere near the prospect Lee is & not even sure I understand what there is to dislike about the guy. The physical skills, production & leadership speak for itself.

Im gonna lean on nitpicking hereā€¦ put a highlight tape of Larry Fitzgerald dropping balls and i want to say it'll look like he'll have poor technique as well. Not trying to compare the two really but my whole point is put a string of bad plays for anyone and they'll look like they have no business in the league. You don't have to high point every ball in the league, every WR in the league uses their body to catch sometimes, you don't have to turn your body for every ball to catch it.

Also it isn't a question Lee had by far the worst QB play out of Watkins, Evans and Benjamin, maybe he wouldn't have to high point every single ball if we actually thrown to him accurately

Good video that I hadn't seen before. I already had my reservations on Lee. He has put up some great stats however he really does underhand the ball way too often. I'd be very wary about taking him.

Marqise Lee is going to be wide open 6 to 10 yards down the field a second and a half after the snap more often than anybody else the Jets could draft this year. That's what's been missing for them since Santonio Holmes got hurt.

The Jets have nobody right now who is hard to cover if the other team is trying. Kerley comes the closest and that's because he lines up in the slot a lot and draws the nickel back or safety fairly often. When the other team puts a good cover guy on him he tends to get shut down.

It'd be great if he slid into the bottom picks of the first or the top half of the second round. There's always somebody who had an injury season his last year and slides as a result.

this. highlight vids can trash as quickly as hype a player. lee can catch and he is a gamer. we probably wont see him on the board, but if he is there, itd be a great fit for what we need.

Highlight videos are worthless, I agree. But is this indicative of his typical technique? I don't care how open you can get if your technique is awful. That drop percentage seems to indicate that it might be accurate. I realize he puts up great numbers and all, but those percentages and technique flaws could really be troublesome in the NFL when coverage will be tighter and mistakes get magnified.

Can anyone confirm or deny whether this video is an accurate representation of his technique? Even bad QB play is not an excuse to have your hands as far apart as he does in the video.

A better representation would have been if the producer of this video took a shot of every throw to Lee in a game or two.

Whoa! That's pretty condemning. Not sure I'd want Lee now. Maybe the reason he doesn't highpoint the ball is that he has questionable hands.

The highlight reel is ridiculous btw. If you put together a reel of every receiver in this draft trying to catch balls in full stride often with a defender in his face you're going to get some drops. You can't "turn around and highpoint a ball" when you are running neck and neck with the defender and the ball is thrown to the point that you are going too. In that situation "Turn around and highpoint" is synonymous with "leave the defender alone with the ball a step down field".

Then you have the wonderful endzone play where the defender puts his hand on Lee's face mask, which would have gotten called for both PI and the face mask in the NFL, then drapes his arm across Lee's inside arm as the ball arrives and knocks the ball away. Somehow that is "poor technique" on Lee's fault. He must not have been good enough at flopping on the face mask and double PI on the play.

Seriously, that reel was put together specifically to try to damage Lee's draft position. Odds are pretty good it was somebody else's agent trying to make a pre-emptive strike on Lee before the draft.

If you put together a reel of only a QB's bad throws, particularly interceptions, it's going to make him look bad no matter what else he did.

The really hysterical thing about the reel is that Lee catches most of the balls in it.

In 2012 Lee was targeted more than any other receiver in the nation and wound up with 118 catches and catches on 72.7% of the throws that went his way. Many of the "mistakes" on that reel came from that season, when Lee was the best receiver in the nation and setting Pac-10 records all over the place.

The fact is that when you get thrown to a lot you're going to drop some balls. Lee is not the only receiver in the NCAA who sees 40% of his teams throws and has a high drop rate.

Really hope we trade up a couple of spots if Evans is reachable, pretty sure Ravens take him if he isn't gone by then!

I'm thinking Johnny Manziel to the Rams on the 2 or in a trade down a few spots and then Evans to them on the 13. I don't think there's much chance Evans gets past 13 or so.
