I agree with your stance.

The helmets as worn by Fitzgerald and John Abraham and Peyton Manning and Revis, etc., are considered to be somewhat safer than the helmets worn by the majority of the players. The league should force all players to wear the safer ones.

Willie Lanier and Mark Kelso wore interesting helmets. They offered extra protection

I'm not sure he even had to throw that block - the Charger was in a very bad position to make a tackle.
