Teams definitely need depth on the OL. The reason I don't think they'll both sign a FA OG and draft one is that they just drafted Winters in the 3rd round last year. They also were pretty high on Dalton Freeman, William Campbell and Aboushi, the latter two whom were also drafted last year. Freeman is a C but has played OG before. They're converting Campbell to OG and claimed to be very pleased with the progress he made this season. I think some had projected Aboushi to play OG in the NFL rather than tackle. While I'm not sure if the latter is true, or how much promise Freeman and Campbell have shown, I think both would have to look pretty bad in order for the Jets do both sign a FA OG and draft one, UNLESS the FA they signed was not a starting quality OG like Asamoah, Schwartz or Beadles, and was instead a backup elsewhere. In that scenario, they might also hedge their bets by drafting one. Personally, I'm hoping that they'll sign Asamoah, that Winters will develop during the off season, and that Freeman, Campbell and/or Aboushi will show that they can play next season. In addition, the Jets might hold onto Vlad or Colon. The problem is that with all the holes the Jets have, I'm not sure they could justify to themselves adding two more players at OG this season after adding 3-4 last season.
I think thats completely false. Any comparison to Stephen Hill makes me think you have no clue what you are watching.
Stephen Hill came from a program that hardly threw the ball. I see some aggressive play in Benjamin's game, I see none in Hill's. Two completely different players.
Benjamin is very fluid for his size, Hill is not. Benjamin has natural hands, Hill is a body catcher. Benjamin can high-point the ball, Hill can not. Benjamin can use his size/physicality to his advantage, Hill does not. Benjamin's game certainly needs refinement, but any comparison to Hill is ignorant and uneducated.
He's also a much bigger guy physically. Benjamin uses his body to shield the ball from a defender, Hill not so much. Totally different guys. _
Yeah, Benjamin has an inch and 20 lbs on him and actually plays to his size. Hill plays like he's 5'9
Would like to pray Fales slips to the 4th. Other than that, I'd be more than happy with that outcome.
i see a player that doesn't highpoint the ball and drops the ball regularly. i have no clue what you're watching, don't kid yourself because he had 1 catch in the national championship game. at the end of the day he's just another athletic freak
Lol, clearly you are out numbered in this way of thinking because everyone else that has responded to that post agrees with me. They are NOTHING alike. Not a single similarity besides the fact that both are very tall. They are completely different athletes, and its not even close. ...Yeah, he cant high point the ball... I have no idea what you are watching.
If we actually get Thomas in the 4th, I will be estatic. Where do you drAft gurus actually see him going in this years draft and is he value in the 4th?
Seems like his hype dropped significantly from last season to this season? Does anyone know why that was? Guy went from Heisman running to not hearing about him from September to December.
If we don't sign someone like McCluster, I wouldn't mind picking DeAnthony Thomas in the draft. 4th-5th round would be amazing value for him.
more a dream off season IMO... BUT a great one! Benjamin is and will be a 1st round pick.. He wont drop to the 2nd round...
Benjamin has a chance to be the best WR in the draft... He is a Julio Jones clone in almost every way...
there's a huge difference between highpointing the ball and just catching a high pass. i don't see kelvin benjamin attack the ball and take it out of the air, i usually see him wait for the ball and he allows it to hit his chest sometimes. his hands just aren't that good. whatever, people disagree on prospects all the time this kid only had 3 games over 100 yards this year and one was 103 yards. im just not that impressed, i think he's an overrated athletic freak
It's 4 in the morning right now, I'll have to check again when I wake up to see if I really just read this.
Maclin has come out and said he'd rather resign with Philly than test the market. Not sure he's a realistic option for us going forward. Sorry, i have no link for this. I saw it on the NFL ticker on NFLN just after Christmas (Rappaport was reporting it). Take it for what it's worth.
