Cincy would be dumb to move on from Dalton... really dumb.

He's not "elite" but if recent NFL history has shown us anything, it's that you can win SBs with QBs that are just good, and not necessarily "elite": Flacco, Eli Manning..

Dalton is one of those guys that's streaky. When he hits his groove, he is tough to beat. All he has to do is hit his groove at the right time and they very well might end up like last year's Ravens when Flacco got over the hump with a nice streak.

This year was the only year the Bengals really disappointed in the playoffs anyway. It was unreasonable to think they would go on the road and beat a very talented Houston team the 2 years before.

They should've had the Chargers game last week, sure, and Dalton looked pretty bad.. but this is a team that hasn't won a playoff game since 19-freaking90. Sometimes getting that 1st one is the hardest one and it wasn't just the QB, a lot of those Bengals players played poorly in that game. Not to mention - they ran into a HOT team with nothing to lose. Let's give some credit to SD.

Dalton deserves some criticism, sure, but that team just needs to re-group and go at it again next year. No reason to blow it up or make a change at the most important position. And while their stupid fans might be saying something different, I think that organization recognizes this. Who knows, next year at this time we could be having a very different conversation if Dalton gets hot at the right time and turns into Joe Flacco.

Dalton is a comfortably mid-tier QB at this point. He probably won't be a top 10 guy but you never know how players careers will round out as they enter their prime and next year is his 27 season.

I'd take him as the Jet's QB no questions asked for the next few seasons.

Dalton is a much more complete QB than Sanchez will ever be. Yes he has some bad moments and he's been rocky but he's a competent NFL QB with a good skillset. Mark never got over that up and down, wildly inconsistent phase that haunted him through all 4 seasons. Not to mention Sanchez has critical flaws in his game that tell you he never should be a starting QB at this level like telegraphing passes and crumbling in the pocket. He didn't have the skills to play that position at a high level.

Dalton needs to play more consistent and better in the playoffs yet he's a QB who will have his team in the playoff hunt most years which is the definition of a solid QB.

No question about it. I think it's a confidence thing with Dalton. However he's got the skills of a solid NFL starting QB. A lot of teams would take him as their starter right now.

as mark gained more experience the Jets stripped most of the talent around him

as Dalton gained more experience they kept adding and adding and adding. Give Mark those weapons and Cincy is still playing w/o a doubt.

With arguably a top 5 WR, Marvin Jones, Giovani Bernard, Jermaine Gresham, Mohamed Sanu, and Tyler Eifert; all of which had at least 400 yards receiving, he managed to win only 3 more games than a rookie.

Geno had one guy reach 500 yards... I may be in the minority but I'd take Geno over Dalton any day!
