    http://dailycaller.com/2014/01/05/p...-cops-show-up-and-kill-their-18-year-old-son/

I stumbled across this today on another site and it literally made my stomach turn so I had to post it. YET ANOTHER story about police officers abusing their power. There is no excuse for this whatsoever. The kid had a mental illness and was wielding a screwdriver. He was already on the ground being subdued when they supposedly just shot him to save time. Now I know we have officers on this forum and I'm not going to generalize all cops here, but if this guy isn't arrested and tried for murder something is majorly wrong with our justice system.

Incidents like this further justify my stance, that you should never call police for help unless you absolutely have no choice. I've seen it happen more than once, where you call them for help, and instead of helping you, they harass you or make the situation worse.

I'm not familiar with the daily caller source website. Has anyone used it for news before that can verify that it is legit? It's been a while since we've had a nice controversial subject to discuss, so here we go. I'm trying to imagine how JetBlue will attempt to justify the cops' actions in this case. It should be interesting.

    Here's a second local source:

    http://www.wect.com/story/24367610/officer-involved-shooting-reported-in-boiling-spring-lakes

Goes into a little more detail. Apparently they recently lost their daughter in a car accident as well. You have to feel for the family.

Awful. I hope that cop is brought to justice. "We don't have time for this." Awful.

Something about this doesn't seem right, my guess is there are serious details missing here. Not sayng it didn't happen but "we don't have time for this" and shoot the kid seems like there are some big parts of this story missing.

I am with you on this Barry. It just doesn't make any sense at all. Let's wait for more details to come out. But in any case, it is an awful tragedy to see your own kid shot and killed with your own eyes. Can't even imagine the pain.

If the officers felt their lives were being threatened they have the discretion to defend themselves at any costs.

Why dont you guys wait for more facts before making judgement, this wasnt a kid, this was an adult they were dealing with, who had a weapon in hand.

Look im not going to deny corruption occurs but I am not going to be negligent to the fact that cops get involved in situations where their lives can be cut short at any moment either.

I will wait for the facts to come out, before I incriminate ANYONE.

This kid was 90 pounds soaking wet and was NOT carrying a gun (or even a knife for that matter) and they had to shoot him?....this after tasering him?

Besides, where was the rush to bring it to a climax? Were the cops double parked? Absent of seeing any video, did this 90-pounder just stand there after being tased like nothing was wrong, ready to fight? On the face of it, there was no excuse for deadly force, just tase me bro then take it slow.

I agree with you, but I think that concept goes to people who want to make a judgement immediately as well. what's the rush to make a judgement to condemn (or absolve) the officer? nothing is going to change while we wait.

are we emotionally double parked? how about we get all the information before doing either? problem is people want to simply rush to judgement based on the very first bits of information they have rather than wait for confirmation or verification.

Apparently the PBA isn't waiting for "Facts" Here's their account backed up with no facts. A clear attempt by an organization representing law enforcement to change the narrative with no facts presented at all.

    http://www.cnn.com/2014/01/08/justice/north-carolina-teen-killed/

The PBA who represents law enforcement are not waiting for facts they are already starting a PR campaign to impact any potential jury. The police are less interested in facts and more interested in protecting their own regardless of guilt or innocence. It's one thing for the Cops attorney to start a PR campaign to exonerate his client for potential jurors its another thing entirely for the PBA to do it.

Why is it that the PBA sees it's job as a representative of law enforcement is to whitewash a story to protect one of it's own? Shouldn't the PBA support a real investigation and support good cops when they know the facts and let the bad apples hang out to dry as they should?
