Masielo has a good team at Manhattan but he has not been able to win a big game there yet. Sent from my SM-T310 using Tapatalk 2
Carolina got screwed last night, they shoot 21 more shots from the field w/ only 3 more 3 attempts yet Wake goes to the line 30+ times while Carolina attempted about 11 FTs. leslie McDonald gets a rebound diving on the floor late, the Wake player literally dives on top of him and McDonald gets frustrated and throws an elbow. No call on wake, technical on UNC- HUGE shift. The officiating was a joke. This was the first time FT shooting didn't cost them a game.
Villanova absolutely destroyed Providence yesterday. Now, I realize Providence is awful, but as my fellow Villanova supporters will tell you, it has been a long time since Villanova dominated any Big East foe in that fashion. Rumor has it Jay Wright really fired up the team by reminding them that Providence swept them last season. He is clearly having his best start as a coach. My biggest critique of Wright is not his preparation, but his inability to adjust team strategy during a game. Based on the Kansas and Iowa wins, he has clearly improved in this area.
UNLV shit the bed against Air Force, I know Dave Rice is getting some big time recruits but teams take on the personality of their coach and this guy has no passion, no fire and he's too meek to coach a big time (in our own minds) program. This team plays scared against a zone and they disapear in the final minutes... this is the 3rd game this season we have gone the final 3+ minutes in a close game without a point all 3 losses and all 3 winnable games against Illinois, AFA and Arizona State. Sadly I think we're not an NCAA team and at this point barely an NIT team.
I am too, Carolina has played their best against top competition this year. I hope that trend continues. if not it could get ugly.
I have only watched two UNC games and they played well in both. I have only read about them playing down to the competition. So I think SU will have it's hands full Saturday. SU is a good team who tends to wear teams down. They do not give up. Ennis has been unbelievable. The Zone has been very good but at times it has been great. I love Grant, he is still raw but at times he can dominate. The block in the final minute against St. Johns was sick! My guess is it is close game Saturday.
Getting Joel James back for Saturday will be back, he is a big help on the defensive end. Carolina needs to penetrate the zone rather than settle for 3s as only 2 guys can shoot 3s.
SU wants teams to try to shoot over the zone because with their length no one shoots great for a whole game. The zone changes based on what a team is trying to do against it. Not many can drive on SU's zone but if they do it tightens up. With the long armed athletes they recruit it is hard to do. This year the teams that have a guy who is strong in the high post do well against the zone. As for your d SU has 4 guys who get 10+ a game. It takes team defense not just stopping Fair.
I agree with this. Fair is the consitent performer but the rest of the scoring is really spread out. I think there needs to be a second scorer to step up consitently for the NCAA tournament but at the moment it is not hurting the team. Ennis and Cooney have been great this year.
Sick to my stomach... UNLV losses to UNR at home. WE have 5 home losses this year which matches the all time high at the T&M and we haven't even played the good teams in conference. Ridiculous....
The Heels are just terrible, another awful loss. This was really the worst of the year b/c unlike the first 3 where FT shooting was the primary culprit and the Wake game where officiating dictated the winners they just got beat badly. They couldn't have played worse, if they played like this Saturday they will get embarrassed.
Hard for me to say this, sitting at now 14-1, but Villanova continues to take care of business, beating who they are supposed to beat. Wright has finally figured out how to motivate a team for every single opponent they face.
I hope it happens, right now they stink and hard to watch. I hope they can pull a Louisville/MSU/UK effort and go into the Carrier Dome and win. I'm not confident.
Playing really solid ball lately. 4th straight game of the team shooting over 50%. I'm going on Saturday to watch them play SJU at MSG so looking forward to seeing them in person.
